2019 Emmy Nominations

I forgot the Emmys were going to be announced yesterday, so I was pretty surprised when I refreshed my Twitter feed and saw it trending. You know I have some thoughts...

Outstanding Comedy Series
Barry
Fleabag
The Good Place
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Russian Doll
Schitt’s Creek
Veep
I didn't realize Russian Doll was a comedy. I had thrown it in my Netflix queue based on reviews but I was assuming it was a drama. I'm here for Veep and Mrs. Maisel.

Outstanding Drama Series
Better Call Saul
Bodyguard
Game of Thrones
Killing Eve
Ozark
Pose
Succession
This Is Us
We all knew GoT was going to get this even with its lackluster finale. What confuses me is The Bodyguard. I found that show SO dull even with sexy ass Richard Madden in it.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Jason Bateman, Ozark
Sterling K. Brown, This Is Us
Kit Harington, Game of Thrones
Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul
Billy Porter, Pose
Milo Ventimiglia, This Is Us
I keep meaning to watch POSE but Billy Porter serves so many looks on the red carpet that I want him to win just to see him accept a statue in whatever he blesses us with wearing.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones
Jodie Comer, Killing Eve
Viola Davis, How to Get Away with Murder
Laura Linney, Ozark
Sandra Oh, Killing Eve
Mandy Moore, This Is Us
Robin Wright, House of Cards
I'm not on the This Is Us train but I've never been a huge fan of Mandy Moore's acting, so her nom is the surprise. Emilia actually deserves this one too.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie
Mahershala Ali, True Detective
Benicio Del Toro, Escape at Dannemora
Hugh Grant, A Very English Scandal
Jared Harris, Chernobyl
Jharrel Jerome, When They See Us
Sam Rockwell, Fosse/Verdon
I'm so happy Jared Harris is here. Chernobyl was fantastic. I wanted so badly to like Fosse/Verdon for Rockwell, but I just didn't. Happy Mahershala got in as well.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie
Amy Adams, Sharp Objects
Patricia Arquette, Escape at Dannemora
Joey King, The Act
Michelle Williams, Fosse/Verdon
Aunjenaue Ellis, When They See Us
Niecy Nash, When They See Us
I can't believe I'll probably have to watch Amy Adams lose AGAIN when she should be winning everything. *heavy sigh* I love it when young people get nominated so I'm thrilled for Joey King. I'm getting my HULU back to watch The Handmaid's Tale and The Act is something I plan on binging.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Anthony Anderson, black-ish
Don Cheadle, Black Monday
Ted Danson, The Good Place
Michael Douglas, The Kominsky Method
Bill Hader, Barry

Eugene Levy, Schitt’s Creek

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Christina Applegate, Dead to Me
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep
Natasha Lyonne, Russian Doll
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fleabag
Catherine O’Hara, Schitt’s Creek
Can Julia Louis-Dreyfus do it again? I hope so. Her and Brosnahan are so great. They're the only two performances I've seen.

Outstanding Variety/Talk Series
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
The Late Late Show with James Corden
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
John Oliver for everything, please.

Outstanding Limited Series
Chernobyl
Escape at Dannemora
Fosse/Verdon
Sharp Object
When They See Us
I'm very happy Sharp Objects and Chernobyl are here. When They See Us I still need to watch, but I'm surprised True Detective missed out. That was a very solid season.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Anthony Carrigan, Barry
Alan Arkin, The Kominsky Method
Stephen Root, Barry
Tony Hale, Veep
Tony Shalhoub, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Henry Winkler, Barry
I wish Tony Hale would finally take one of these home for playing Gary. He's been through so much.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Jonathan Banks, Better Call Saul
Giancarlo Esposito, Better Call Saul
Alfie Allen, Game of Thrones
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones
Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones
Michael Kelly, House of Cards
Chris Sullivan, This Is Us
Alfie Allen is long overdue for an Emmy nomination so I'm glad he finally got one. He should have in season 2. It's too bad D&D screwed over Isaac Hempstead-Wright by removing Bran's personality meaning he never had any chance of an Emmy nom in the last two seasons.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Sarah Goldberg, Barry
Sian Clifford, Fleabag
Olivia Colman, Fleabag
Alex Bornstein, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Betty Gilpin, GLOW
Marin Hinkle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live
Anna Chlumsky, Veep
I'v never seen Fleabag but now I feel like I need to. I'm always here for Anna Chlumsky who gave her best work in Veep this season.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Gwendoline Christie, Game of Thrones
Julia Garner, Ozark
Lena Headey, Game of Thrones
Fiona Shaw, Killing Eve
Sophie Turner, Game of Thrones
Maisie Williams, Game of Thrones
I love Lena Headey for life, but she didn't do ANYTHING this season. She drank wine on a balcony, fucked Jared LethimselfGo and got killed by a ton of bricks. Gwendoline on the other hand I'm psyched for. Same with Julia Garner, while I don't care for Ozark she's such an underrated actress and was my favorite part of it.

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Ron Cephas Jones, This Is Us
Michael McKean, Better Call Saul
Glynn Turman, How to Get Away with Murder
Michael Angarano, This Is Us
Kumail Nanjiani, The Comedian
Bradley Whitford, The Handmaid’s Tale
I assumed The Handmaid's Tale missed the Emmy cut off until I came across
Bradley's name. Wow.

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
Matt Damon, Saturday Night Live
Luke Kirby, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Peter MacNicol, Veep
John Mulaney, Saturday Night Live
Robert De Niro, Saturday Night Live
Adam Sandler, Saturday Night Live
Hear me out; Rober De Niro is TERRIBLE on SNL. He is fucking painful to watch. Stop nominating legends just because they're legends.

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
Fiona Shaw, Fleabag
Kristin Scott Thomas, Fleabag
Jane Lynch, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Sandra Oh, Saturday Night Live
Maya Rudolph, The Good Place
Emma Thompson, Saturday Night Live
Fiona Shaw is killing it with nominations this year. I loved Lynch in Mrs. Maisel.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie
Ben Wishaw, A Very English Scandal
Asante Blackk, When They See Us
Paul Dano, Escape at Dannemora
Stellan Skarsgard, Chernobyl
John Leguizamo, When They See Us
Michael Kenneth Williams, When They See Us
I'm happy to see Paul Dano's name anywhere. Also happy for Skarsgard in Chernobyl.

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Cherry Jones, The Handmaid’s Tale
Jessica Lange, American Horror Story: Apocalypse
Phylicia Rashad, This Is Us
Laverne Cox, Orange Is the New Black
Cicely Tyson, How to Get Away with Murder
Carice van Houten, Game of Thrones
Carice getting nominated was a huge surprise, she normally doesn't get much to do as Melisandre at all. I forgot about OITNB existing again. They under-use Cox.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie
Patricia Arquette, The Act
Margaret Qualley, Fosse/Verdon
Patricia Clarkson, Sharp Objects
Marsha Stephanie Blake, When They See Us
Vera Farmiga, When They See Us
Emily Watson, Chernobyl
Please don't make me see Patricia Aqruette steal TWO Sharp Objects trophies.

Outstanding Telvision Movie
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (Netflix)
Brexit: The Uncivil War (HBO)
Deadwood: The Movie (HBO)
King Lear (Amazon)
My Dinner With Herve (HBO)

LOL BANDERSNATCH

2019 Academy Award Winners

We made it. You know, this ceremony started off promising then Infinity War lost and it all went (almost) downhill from there. Jesus. I'm glad it's over. I went  17/24 with my picks. Some of those I was happy to get wrong, others less so. The winners are in green.

Best Picture
Black Panther
A Star Is Born
Roma
The Favourite
Vice
Bohemian Rhapsody
Green Book
BlacKkKlansman
I'm surprised it wasn't Rohemian Rhapsody after the way this night went but still...fuck yooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu

Best Actress
Glenn Close: The Wife
Lady Gaga: A Star Is Born
Yalitza Aparicio: Roma
Olivia Colman: The Favourite
Melissa McCarthy: Can You Ever Forgive Me?
YES Oh my God I screamed so loudly when this happened. I had screamed about a lot of things tonight but this one was special. I'm so happy she won.

Best Actor
Christian Bale: Vice
Bradley Cooper: A Star Is Born
Viggo Mortensen: Green Book”
Willem Dafoe: At Eternity’s Gate
Rami Malek: Bohemian Rhapsody
Thanks, I hate it.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams: Vice
Marina de Tavira: Roma
Regina King: If Beale Street Could Talk
Emma Stone: The Favourite
Rachel Weisz: The Favourite
I am so happy I got to see this yesterday so I could fully enjoy her win. Regina gave a beautiful speech and Chris Evans' fine ass helping her up the stairs was the icing on the cake.

Best Supporting Actor
Mahershala Ali: The Green Book
Adam Driver: BlacKkKlansman
Sam Elliott: A Star Is Born
Richard E. Grant: Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Sam Rockwell: Vice
I'm going to pretend this is for True Detective, in which he is killing it in this season.

Best Director
Spike Lee: BlacKkKlansman
Pawel Pawlikowski: Cold War
Yorgos Lanthimo: The Favourite
Alfonso CuarĂ³n: Roma
Adam McKay: Vice
BORING. Every one of these films was far more interesting and better directed than Roma.

 Best Original Screenplay
"First Reformed”
“Green Book”
“Roma”
“The Favourite”
“Vice”
The least original of the nominees won. What is this? The highlight was the look on presenters Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson's faces when they had to announce this. Both looked like they were in pain.

Best Adapted Screenplay

“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”
“If Beale Street Could Talk”
“A Star Is Born”
Unlike Green Book this one deserved to win and Spike Lee ended his speech by telling us to do the right thing, which was perfect. Plus look at that hug between him and Jackson awwwwwwwwwwww.

Best Animated Film
“Incredibles 2”
“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
“Mirai”
“Ralph Breaks the Internet”
“Isle Of Dogs”
Perfect.

Best Cinematography
“Cold War”
“The Favourite”
“Never Look Away”
“Roma”
“A Star Is Born”
The only thing about Roma that I liked was the cinematography so I don't *hate* this, I just think The Favourite and Cold War looked better.

Best Visual Effects
“Avengers: Infinity War”
“Christopher Robin”
“First Man”
“Ready Player One”
“Solo: A Star Wars Story”
This was the turning point of the night for me. I was in an excellent mood until Infinity War lost. This was such a "throw you a bone" award to First Man since it lost out on the Sound categories. I'm sorry, but you can't tell me any of these visual effects are better than what was in Avengers. These old ass academy voters need to get off their high horses about voting for super hero movies. May they all step on a thousand Thanos shaped legos.

Best Foreign Language Film
“Capernaum”
“Cold War”
“Never Look Away”
“Roma”
“Shoplifters”
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Best Documentary Feature
“Free Solo”
“Minding The Gap”
“Of Fathers and Sons”
“RBG”
“Hale County This Morning, This Evening”
I guessed this one right, but I haven't seen it. I only saw RGB.

Best Documentary Short Subject

“Black Sheep”
“End Game”
“Lifeboat”
“A Night at the Garden”
“Period. End of Sentence.”
I thought Lifeboat was going to win but I'm so happy for this. This was a worthy winner and "I can't believe a movie about menstruation just won an Oscar" was the quote of the night.

Best Costume Design
“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”
“Black Panther”
“The Favourite”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
“Mary Queen of Scots”
I've been saying this should win since last February so to see it happen is just amazing.

Best Makeup and Hairstyling

“Border”
“Mary Queen of Scots”
“Vice”
At least Vice won something.

 Best Film Editing
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“Green Book”
“The Favourite”
“Vice”
Dumb.

Best Sound Mixing
“Black Panther”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“First Man”
“Roma”
“A Star Is Born”
Ugh.

Best Production Design:

“Black Panther”
“First Man”
“The Favourite”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
“Roma”
This one surprised me but I'm so happy.

Best Sound Editing

“A Quiet Place”
“Black Panther”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“First Man”
“Roma”
Ugh.

Best Animated Short Film
“Animal Behaviour”
“Bao”
“Late Afternoon”
“One Small Step”
“Weekends”
This was a given.

Best Live Action Short Film
“Detainment”
“Fauve”
“Marguerite”
“Mother”
“Skin”
The skinhead movie winning was kind of surprising, I thought Marguerite would. It was the least depressing out of an entire category of depressing shorts.

Best Original Score
“Black Panther”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“If Beale Street Could Talk”
“Isle of Dogs”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
I thought Beale Street was gonig to win this but I'm happy for Black Panther. That score is amazing.

Best Original Song:
"All The Stars" - "Black Panther"
"I'll Fight" - "RBG"
"Shallow" - "A Star Is Born
"The Place Where Lost Things Go" - "Mary Poppins Returns"
"When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" - The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
I'm salty as hell that All The Stars wasn't performed but I love that Gaga got behind the piano for this. She's a hell of an artist.

2019 BAFTA Winners

So I haven't written about the BAFTAs on my Blog since 2017. I never get to watch the ceremony so I always forget to post about them. I didn't watch this year either but since I'm sitting around on yet another snowy, freezing day. Why not continue on with the fuckery that is this award season? The winners are in green.

Best Actor
Bradley Cooper – A Star Is Born
Christian Bale – Vice
Rami Malek – Bohemian Rhapsody
Steve Coogan – Stan & Ollie
Viggo Mortensen – Green Book
Excuse me, Brits. HOW did you not give Christian Bale this award? You had one job!

Best Actress
Glenn Close – The Wife
Lady Gaga – A Star Is Born
Melissa McCarthy – Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Olivia Colman – The Favourite
Viola Davis – Widows
Thank God they at least did this right. Close should not be winning every award in site for such a boring performance. Colman is the rightful winner here.

Best Film
BlacKkKlansman
The Favourite
Green Book
Roma

A Star Is Born
ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Roma is clearly the front runner for Best Picture now and that means another unenthusiastic win from me.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams – Vice
Claire Foy – First Man
Emma Stone – The Favourite
Margot Robbie – Mary Queen of Scots
Rachel Weisz – The Favourite
Without Regina King here this was wide open and Weisz came in for the win. I'm not mad.

Jessie Buckley
Lakeith Stanfield

Letitia Wright
Letitia forever!

Best Supporting Actor
Adam Driver – BlacKkKlansman

Pili – Leanne Welham, Sophie Harman

Ray & Liz – Richard Billingham , Jacqui Davies

Best Special Visual Effects
Avengers: Infinity War
Black Panther
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
First Man
Ready Player One
I love Black Panther, I wish it would win Best Picture at the Oscars because it's so much more deserving than Roma...but nothing should be winning Visual Effects over Avengers Infinity War.

Dogman

2019 Screen Actors Guild Winners

There wasn't even a televised red carpet for the SAG's tonight.I caught a stream on people.com and it was one of the most dreadfully boring things I've ever seen. I was hoping this wasn't a bad oman for how this show was going to go...but it was. Host Megan Mullaly took so many long pauses between everything she said it was so awkward. This show really doesn't need a host. I went  10/13 with my picks which was far better than the Globes. Here are the winners + some quick thoughts.

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
A Star Is Born
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
Crazy Rich Asians”
Thank God Black Panther won this. After that bullshit with Rami I was afraid for a bit. Chadwick gave a wonderful speech and I hope this wins Best Picture.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Christian Bale, “Vice”
Bradley Cooper, “A Star Is Born”
Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Viggo Mortensen, “Green Book”
John David Washington, “BlacKkKlansman”
Give me a break. Over Bale? Over Cooper? I don't hate Rami. I love his work in Mr. Robot but he's been consistently rubbing me the wrong way in all of this interviews all season and he's now trying to play dumb over the Singer situation. On top of that, Bale and Cooper were just better. This is a disappointing win.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Emily Blunt, “Mary Poppins Returns”
Glenn Close, “The Wife”
Olivia Colman, “The Favourite”
Lady Gaga, “A Star Is Born”
Melissa McCarthy, “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz how is Colman not winning? I'm over career Oscars. Also fuck the person who shouted at Gary Oldman when he was announcing the winner.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Mahershala Ali, “Green Book”
Timothee Chalamet, “Beautiful Boy”
Adam Driver, “BlacKkKlansman”
Sam Elliott, “A Star Is Born”
Richard E. Grant, “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”
Who will win: Mahershala Ali
I don't hate this win, but I would've preferred Driver. Ali is winning his second Oscar now.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Amy Adams, "Vice"
Emily Blunt, "A Quiet Place"
Margot Robbie, "Mary, Queen of Scots"
Emma Stone, "The Favourite"
Rachel Weiss, "The Favourite"
Is there some kind of industry rule where Amy Adams isn't allowed to win anything? Blunt was great in A Quiet Place so I think this is a fine win, but what is going on with Amy?

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
The Americans
Better Call Saul
The Handmaid’s Tale
Ozark
This Is Us
I guessed the Americans was going to win this but I should've known This Is Us is still going strong. As part of the Black Panther ensemble as well, Sterling K. Brown won twice tonight.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series
Jason Bateman, Ozark
Sterling K. Brown, This Is Us
Joseph Fiennes, The Handmaid’s Tale
John Krasinki, Jack Ryan
Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul
I tried really hard to get into Ozark and I just couldn't. But Bateman was good in what I saw.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series
Julia Garner, "Ozark"
Laura Linney, "Ozark"
Elisabeth Moss, "The Handmaid's Tale"
Sandra Oh, "Killing Eve"
Robin Wright, "House of Cards"
I had a feeling Oh would repeat her Globe win. Her speech was wonderful and so heartfelt.

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series
Atlanta
Barry
GLOW
The Kominsky Method
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Who will win: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I really wish I could watch this show. I may have to try that free Prime trial.

Outstanding Performane by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series
Alan Arkin, “The Kominsky Method”
Michael Douglas, “The Kominsky Method”
Bill Hader, “Barry”
Tony Shalhoub, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”

I guessed this right! *pats self on back*

Antonio Banderas, “Genius: Picasso”
Darren Criss, “Assassination of Gianni Versace”
Hugh Grant, “A Very English Scandal”
Anthony Hopkins, “King Lear”
Bill Pullman, “The Sinner”
I just want to say one final time that Bill Pullman was awful in The Sinner.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie
Amy Adams, “Sharp Objects”
Patricia Arquette, “Escape at Dannemora”
Patricia Clarkson, “Sharp Objects”
Penelope Cruz, “Assassination of Gianni Versace”
Emma Stone, “Maniac”
UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

2019 Academy Award Nominations

The most wonderful time of the year (for Film Twitter) is here and it's...well...it's something. If you're a huge fan of Roma (I wasn't) then you're probably over the moon. Super Hero Fatigue™ still proves to be bullshit as Marvel walks away with 9 nominations, and for some reason the Academy still can't use their 10 fucking slots. Here are the nominees + my quick thoughts.

Best Picture
Black Panther”
A Star Is Born
Roma
The Favourite
Vice
Bohemian Rhapsody
Green Book
BlacKkKlansman
This is so dumb. Just pick 10 movies. The fact that Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book are taking time away from better movies and they STILL didn't pick 10 is just egregious. I'm happy Black Panther got in since that was still a bit of a question mark. I hope it wins.

Best Actress
Glenn Close: The Wife
Lady Gaga: A Star Is Born
Yalitza Aparicio: Roma
Olivia Colman: The Favourite
Melissa McCarthy: Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Simon asked the best question here. Close and Gaga aren't nearly as good as Toni Collete, Elsie Fisher, Thomasin McKenzie, Viola Davis, OR Carey Mulligan were in their films this year (I'd throw in McCarthy too, to be honest) Please for the love of God let Olivia Colman win this.

Best Actor
Christian Bale: Vice
Bradley Cooper: A Star Is Born
Viggo Mortensen: Green Book”
Willem Dafoe: At Eternity’s Gate
Rami Malek: Bohemian Rhapsody
I'm really bummed John David Washington couldn't sneak in. Willem DaFoe is the surprise nom, stealing that obscure indie slot from Ethan Hawke. I'll have to find this movie and watch it now.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams: Vice
Marina de Tavira: Roma
Regina King: If Beale Street Could Talk
Emma Stone: The Favourite
Rachel Weisz: The Favourite
I know everyone loves Roma but de Tavira is a huge head scratcher for me because she didn't do anything in Roma.

Best Supporting Actor
Mahershala Ali: The Green Book
Adam Driver: BlacKkKlansman
Sam Elliott: A Star Is Born
Richard E. Grant: Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Sam Rockwell: Vice
Sam Elliott played himself in A Star Is Born so that's a completely underwhelming nod for me. Twitter seems to hate Rockwell's nod, which I don't mind. I think Carrell was slightly better in Vice but he's better than Elliott.

Best Director
Spike Lee: BlacKkKlansman
Pawel Pawlikowski: Cold War
Yorgos Lanthimo: The Favourite
Alfonso CuarĂ³n: Roma
Adam McKay: Vice
LOOOOOOOL over Bradley "I'm focusing more on director" Cooper getting snubbed. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh. I'm glad Farelly got snubbed here too. Pawlikowski is a huge shocker. I can't believe this is Spike Lee's first director nomination.

 Best Original Screenplay
"First Reformed”
“Green Book”
“Roma”
“The Favourite”
“Vice”
Green Book being in this category is still a massive joke.

Best Animated Film
“Incredibles 2”
“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
“Mirai”
“Ralph Breaks the Internet”
“Isle Of Dogs”
Spider-Verse didn't get snubbed! This is all I care about, all the other films can go home.

Best Cinematography
“Cold War”
“The Favourite”
“Never Look Away”
“Roma”
“A Star Is Born”
I need to see Cold War and Never Look Away.

Best Visual Effects
“Avengers: Infinity War”
“Christopher Robin”
“First Man”
“Ready Player One”
“Solo: A Star Wars Story”
Avengers! Is it bad that despite being firmly on the Black Panther bandwagon that I'm okay with it missing out here? No one should be winning this besides Avengers. Don't you dare try to give this to First Man, Academy!

Best Foreign Language Film
“Capernaum”
“Cold War”
“Never Look Away”
“Roma”
“Shoplifters”
The only one of these I've seen is Roma which I found boring, hopefully the rest fare better.

Best Documentary Feature
“Free Solo”
“Minding The Gap”
“Of Fathers and Sons”
“RBG”
“Hale County This Morning, This Evening”
I'm shocked Won't You Be My Neighbor was snubbed, everyone deemed this the winner when it was released. The only one of these I've seen is RBG which I enjoyed. Hopefully I can see the rest before February.

 Best Documentary Short Subject
“Black Sheep”
“End Game”
“Lifeboat”
“A Night at the Garden”
“Period. End of Sentence.”
I wish more theaters would bundle these short subject films together and show them all at once. I never get to see them beforehand.

Best Costume Design
“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”
“Black Panther”
“The Favourite”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
“Mary Queen of Scots”
I think it's a bunch of crap that Crazy Rich Asians missed out here

Best Makeup and Hairstyling
“Border”
“Mary Queen of Scots”
“Vice”
I had to look up Border, I had never heard of it until now. While I can't speak for that, I'm happy for the other two nominations. I wish this category would get stretched to 5 though. I think they could do it.

 Best Film Editing
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“Green Book”
“The Favourite”
“Vice”
Green Book had an editor?

Best Sound Mixing
“Black Panther”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“First Man”
“Roma”
“A Star Is Born”
I think First Man should take all of these, but I'm bummed Avengers couldn't make it in the sound categories too.

Best Sound Editing
“A Quiet Place”
“Black Panther”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“First Man”
“Roma”
see above

Best Animated Short Film
“Animal Behaviour”
“Bao”
“Late Afternoon”
“One Small Step”
“Weekends”
I've only seen Bao which made me cry so there's that.

Best Live Action Short Film
“Detainment”
“Fauve”
“Marguerite”
“Mother”
“Skin”
Again, I've seen nothing. Hopefully some of these will pop up on youtube.

Best Original Score
“Black Panther”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“If Beale Street Could Talk”
“Isle of Dogs”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
I'm happy to see Black Panther here. I thought they would be a bit of long shot

Best Original Song:
"All The Stars" - "Black Panther"
"I'll Fight" - "RBG"
"Shallow" - "A Star Is Born
"The Place Where Lost Things Go" - "Mary Poppins Returns"

"When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" - "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs"
I mean, we all know Shallow is winning this (which is perfectly fine) but I'll go ahead and still root for All The Stars. This is probably the one Buster Scruggs nomination I agree with because that song was hilarious.
