2025 Golden Globe Predictions: Who Will Win, Who Should Win

Can you believe the Golden Globes are this Sunday? That snuck up on me. Normally I get my predictions out a week in advance, but here I am late to the game. Below is who I think will win, and in some cases, who should win.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
The Brutalist
A Complete Unknown
Conclave
Dune: Part Two
Nickel Boys
September 5
Who will win: Conclave
Who should win: That or Dune Part Two
The Brutalist is gaining momentum but I see the HFPA going more for Conclave, and that's fine with me. It was a great film.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Anora
Challengers
Emilia Pérez
A Real Pain
The Substance
Wicked
Who will win: Wicked
Who should win: Anora
I really don't think The Subtance is a comedy, even though it is my favorite film here. Wicked is everywhere and I see it taking home a trophy here, even though Anora would be my pick.

BEST DIRECTOR, MOTION PICTURE
Jacques Audiard – Emilia Pérez
Sean Baker – Anora
Edward Berger – Conclave
Brady Corbet – The Brutalist
Coralie Fargeat – The Substance
Payal Kapadia – All We Imagine As Light
Who will win: Edward Berger
Who should win: Coralie Fargeat
I want to say Coralie is going to win, but I don't trust men anymore. (except the 4-5 of you that read here...you know who you are. I'd trust your votes)

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Pamela Anderson – The Last Showgirl
Angelina Jolie – Maria
Nicole Kidman – Babygirl
Tilda Swinton – The Room Next Door
Fernanda Torres – I’m Still Here
Kate Winslet – Lee
Who will and should win: Nicole Kidman
I'm not super comfortable with this pick, but Babygirl was amazing and Kidman tremendous.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Amy Adams – Nightbitch
Cynthia Erivo – Wicked
Karla Sofía Gascón – Emilia Pérez
Mikey Madison – Anora
Demi Moore – The Substance
Zendaya – Challengers
Who will and should win: Demi Moore
Ughhh...this is hard. With my Best Comedy prediction, Cynthia SHOULD win this, but Demi is a beloved veteran who gave a great performance. I'd be stocked for her or Mikey winning to be honest.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Selena Gomez – Emilia Pérez
Ariana Grande – Wicked
Felicity Jones – The Brutalist
Margaret Qualley – The Substance
Isabella Rossellini – Conclave
Zoe Saldaña – Emilia Pérez
Who will win: Zoe Saldaña
Who should win: Margaret Qualley
The majority of this category is stupid. It either has lead performances or blantant star power only nominations. Zoe is one of those leads, but even with Conclave being so popular, I can't see them awaring Rossellini.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Adrien Brody – The Brutalist
Timothée Chalamet – A Complete Unknown
Daniel Craig – Queer
Colman Domingo – Sing Sing
Ralph Fiennes – Conclave
Sebastian Stan – The Apprentice
Who will and should win: Ralph Fiennes
I should say that Conclave is still the only one of these I've actually seen, even though I plan on watching them all. So that's my only precursor to "should."

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Jesse Eisenberg – A Real Pain
Hugh Grant – Heretic
Gabriel LaBelle – Saturday Night
Jesse Plemons – Kinds of Kindness
Glen Powell – Hit Man
Sebastian Stan – A Different Man
Who will win: Hugh Grant
Who should win: Jesse Eisenberg
I was going to pencil in Eisenberg here but for some reason Grant was calling my name. We'll see. It's not like I'm great at these anyways.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Yura Borisov – Anora
Kieran Culkin – A Real Pain
Edward Norton – A Complete Unknown
Guy Pearce – The Brutalist
Jeremy Strong – The Apprentice
Denzel Washington – Gladiator II
Who will and should win: Kieran Culkin
He's the biggest lock this season, even though I feel like he's technically a lead.

BEST SCREENPLAY, MOTION PICTURE
Anora
The Brutalist
Conclave
A Real Pain
Emilia Pérez
The Substance
Who will win: Conclave
Who should win: A Real Pain, Anora, or The Substance
I wish the HFPA would split up Screenplays instead of dumb categories like "Blockbuster movie" or whatever. I almost always gravitate towards the original screenplays over the adapted ones. Sure, Conclave is a great adapted screenplay, but the three I listed, I just prefer.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, MOTION PICTURE
The Brutalist
Challengers
Conclave
Dune: Part Two
Emilia Pérez
The Wild Robot
Who will win: Conclave
Who should win: Dune Part II, Challengers, or The Wild Robot
Sticking with my Conclave love theory, even though I think they could go the route of The Wild Robot too.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG, MOTION PICTURE
“Beautiful That Way” – The Last Showgirl
“Compress/Repress” – Challengers
“El Mal” – Emilia Pérez
“Forbidden Road” – Better Man
“Kiss the Sky” – The Wild Robot
“Mi Camino” – Emilia Pérez
Who will and should win: Kiss The Sky
I'm torn between this and Compress/Repress but I think Kiss The Sky is more wide-reaching.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, ANIMATED
Flow
Inside Out 2
Memoir of a Snail
Moana 2
Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
The Wild Robot
Who will win: The Wild Robot
Who should win: Memoir of a Snail
I think Flow has a really good chance here too, but since I'm predicting Wild Robot to take home a song award, I see it winning here too.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, FOREIGN LANGUAGE
All We Imagine As Light
Emilia Pérez
The Girl With the Needle
I’m Still Here
The Seed of the Sacred Fig
Vermiglio
Who will win: All We Imagine As Light
I can't really say "should" here because I've only seen two of these and neither were strong enough in my opinion for me to fully get behind them.

GOLDEN GLOBE FOR CINEMATIC & BOX OFFICE ACHIEVEMENT
Alien: Romulus
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Deadpool & Wolverine
Gladiator II
Inside Out 2
Twisters
Wicked
The Wild Robot
Who will win: Wicked
Again, wtf is this for?

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
The Day Of The Jackal
The Diplomat
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Shōgun
Slow Horses
Squid Game
Who will and should win: Shogun
I expect them to continue their win streak from the Emmys

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
The Gentlemen
Hacks
Nobody Wants This
Only Murders in the Building
Who will and should win: Hacks
I expect the Globes to follow the Emmys here and award Hacks over The Bear.

BEST LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Baby Reindeer
Disclaimer
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
The Penguin
Ripley
True Detective: Night Country
Who will win: Baby Reindeer
Who should win: The Penguin
Baby Reindeer was deeply personal to Richard Gadd that even though I enjoyed The Penguin far more, I think they'll reward his bravery above all.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Kathy Bates – Matlock
Emma D’Arcy – House of the Dragon
Maya Erskine – Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Keira Knightley – Black Doves
Kerri Russell – The Diplomat
Anna Sawai – Shōgun
Who will and should win: Anna Sawai.
Continuing winning, my queen!

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Kristen Bell – Nobody Wants This
Quinta Brunson – Abbott Elementary
Ayo Edebiri – The Bear
Selena Gomez – Only Murders in the Building
Kathryn Hahn – Agatha All Along
Jean Smart – Hacks
Who will win: Jean Smart
Who should win: Kathryn Hahn
I love Jean in Hacks as much as the next person but I'm obsessed with Kathryn's perforance as Agatha.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Cate Blanchett – Disclaimer
Jodie Foster – True Detective: Night Country
Cristin Milioti – The Penguin
Sofia Vergara – Griselda
Naomi Watts – Feud: Capote vs. The Swans
Kate Winslet – The Regime
Who will win: Jodie Foster
Who should win: Cristin Milioti
I think Jodie repeats her Emmy win. The Globes do like Freshman series, so part of me hopes Milioti will pull through.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Liza Colon-Zayas – The Bear
Hannah Einbinder – Hacks
Dakota Fanning – Ripley
Jessica Gunning – Baby Reindeer
Allison Janey – The Diplomat
Kali Reis – True Detective: Night Country
Who will and should win: Jessica Gunning
Again, Jessica Gunning was so convincing in Baby Reindeer that if someone told me they plucked her out of a mental hospital, I would 100% believe it.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Donald Glover – Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Jake Gyllenhaal – Presumed Innocent
Gary Oldman – Slow Horses
Eddie Redmayne – The Day of the Jackal
Hiroyuki Sanada – Shōgun
Billy Bob Thornton – Land Man
Who will and should win: Hiroyuki Sanada

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Adam Brody – Nobody Wants This
Ted Danson – A Man on the Inside
Steve Martin – Only Murders in the Building
Jason Segal – Shrinking
Martin Short – Only Murders in the Building
Jeremy Allen White – The Bear
Who will and should win: Jeremy Allen White
I see this being The Bear's only win, unfortunately.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Colin Farrell – The Penguin
Richard Gadd – Baby Reindeer
Kevin Kline – Disclaimer
Cooper Koch – Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Ewan McGregor – A Gentleman in Moscow
Andrew Scott – Ripley
Who will and should win: Richard Gadd
He really put himself out there, but I would not be mad at all if Colin Farrell pulled an upset.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Tadanobu Asano – Shōgun
Javier Bardem – Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Harrison Ford – Shrinking
Jack Lowden – Slow Horses
Diego Luna – La Máquina
Ebon Moss-Bachrach – The Bear
Who will win: Harrison Ford
Who should win: Ebon Moss-Bachrach
I just have a feeling about Ford here, even though Ebon would be repeating his Emmy win...I can't shake it.

BEST PERFORMANCE IN A STAND-UP COMEDY ON TELEVISION
Jamie Foxx – What Had Happened Was…
Nikki Glaser – Someday You’ll Die
Seth Meyers – Dad Man Walking
Adam Sandler – Love You
Ali Wong – Single Lady
Ramy Youssef – More Feelings
Who will win: Jamie Foxx
Who should win: ?
I haven't seen these, so I'm basing this off of the fact that Foxx had a really rough year medically and came through.
