TV Catch Up - Medical Dramas, Super Heroes, Aliens, Oh My!
I keep falling behind with reviewing the series I've been watching and it started to get a bit daunting, so I'm going to share some quick thoughts instead. We love a concise post. Right?
This show is hilarious but I think they've plateaued on where they can take this. Having Deborah lose her talk show by the end of the season was a huge bummer. I felt like they could've kept going with that story. Hopefully they bring it back next season. And I wouldn't be upset if it ended. It feels like the right time.
I really should've watched a recap of season 1 before starting this because BOY did I forget a lot. The season overall was pretty funny, but I think Peacemaker is at its best when it focuses more on Chris and his friendship with Ads then it does his relationship with Harcourt. It also felt like they dumbed down Vigilante way too much. The best scenes were when the gang was all together.
Tim Meadows and his "bird blindness" might be one of the funniest things I've heard all year though. Major props for that.
This continues to be my go to wholesome show. Strangely it doesn't feel like it's getting repetitive in the way Hacks is. Recently I was thinking about TV characters that just make me happy when I see them, and I realized Jeanine is as the top of that list for me. She's just so precious. I want to protect her with my life.
If there was a show that has absolutely knocked me off my socks this year, it's Alien: Earth. I had interest in it, but I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. The world building is amazing and I love that Alex Lawther is one of the leads. This guy is an incredible actor and really deserves more attention for it. Not to mention, all the actors that are playing the kids in adult bodies? Perfection. Especially Jonathan Ajayi who plays Smee. I can practically see my own son in some of his mannerisms.
As of this writing, there hasn't been a second season announced and with the way season 1 ended, I will actually riot if we don't get one.
I finally jumped on this bandwagon and even though the first episode didn't sell me, everything that came afterwards certainly did. I can see why this was so well loved. It's definitely a "binge" show. Waiting week to week would be tough considering each episode covers an hour of time in the ER. This only took me a few days to finish.
This one I haven't finished yet, but I'll watch anything with Mark Ruffalo in it, especially when the writers from Mare of Easttown are involved too. So far, it's just okay. I find the FBI agents' stories to be way more interesting than the criminals'. Poor Emilia Jones is just so miscast here. I do have to hand it to Tom Pelphrey. This guy, who I thought was one of the worst actors I've even seen in The Iron Fist has continued to step his game up. Whatever acting coach this dude found is clearly working.
