Top 10 TV of 2025
Despite watching as much TV as I do, I don't think I've ever put together a yearly Top 10 like I do for movies. Thankfully one of the few bright spots of 2025 was some excellent television. Here are my Top 10 TV series of 2026
10. The Handmaid's Tale - The #10 spot ended up being the hardest one for me to fill between this, White Lotus, Abbott Elementary and Hacks, but ultimately I decided this show deserved the spot since we're sending off such an iconic show. The finale wasn't without its issues, but it can't be stressed how important this show is.
9. Stranger Things - Season 5 was a mixed bag overall, but the finale absolutely nailed it. I loved how they integrated flashbacks from the earlier seasons. It fit with the nostalgia this show has always been about, and it was so sweet to see the kids little again. I cried three different times. I feel like it's a bit hard to find positive things about the finale online, because there's a very loud section of the fandom that's pissed off. Hopefully they can come around one day. It's not like we got a Game of Thrones level bullshit of an ending.
8. Black Mirror - Season 7 FINALLY felt like Black Mirror again. Not all episodes were hits, but the ones that were fit perfectly with the episodes of its prime.
7. The Studio - Seth Rogan's movie studio cringe comedy was an easy watch and gave me plenty of laughs
6. Alien: Earth - I was late to start this, but I loved every minute. The characters are easy to love and are played by a wonderfully talented cast. I really hope Hulu gives this a second season. It will be criminal if they don't.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar - At the beginning of the year, Netflix gave us a mini series about Australian Scammer Belle Gibson with two great lead performances from Kaitlyn Deaver and Alycia Debnam-Carey. Because it premiered so early, it seems to be forgotten slightly, but it shouldn't be. It was excellent
4. The Pitt - Another I was slow to start, but I binged very quickly. Each episode follows one our of time in an ER staff's shift. Can't wait for the second season to come out next week.
3. Severance - This already had a strong Freshman season and a LOT of questioned needed to be answered during season 2. Thankfully, they did not let us down and delivered a great season of television. Tramell Tillman for life!
2. Adolescence - THIS is the Netflix mini series everyone is still talking about and rightfully show. As the parent of a teenage boy, it's my nightmare, but it's an excellent 4 episode series shot single-take style.
1. Andor - Of course, the #1 I saw this year has to be Andor season two. THIS is peak Star Wars. I've said this 1000 times, but I never expected this show to do as well as it did. And for it to be arguably the most important TV to come out in 2025? Insane. But I love it.

Andor is also my #1 TV thing that I saw this year followed by the 2nd season of Wednesday (I will never get over Jenna Ortega dancing to Blackpink while Emma Myers is scowling at what is happening) and the current season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
ReplyDeleteI don't know a lot about Percy Jackson but it sounds like book fans really like that show, so I'm glad! I was kind of hoping my son would get into it but so far he hasn't.
DeleteGlad you decided to do your TV top 10 as well. We are in agreement about ANDOR but I find The Studio insufferable after 3 episodes so I stopped watching; it was only mildly funny for me. I also stopped watching Severance S2, not sure if I'll pick it up again. I'm curious about Adolescence as I love Stephen Graham, but man it just sounds so heavy.
ReplyDeleteAdolescence is VERY heavy but it's so worth the watch. So many great performances, editing, writing. It's really the whole package. I totally understand why anyone wouldn't vibe with The Studio. You have to have a certain level of tolerance for a show like that.
