Thursday Movie Picks: French Language Movie

This week's theme from Wandering through the Shelves is French Language movies! I love so many of these, this was really hard to cut down to three. 

 1) Water Lilies

 This is my favorite French film. It's coming of age/sexual awakening/trying to fit in combined. All of those things have been done countless times, but this film feels special.

 2) The Intouchables

 I expected this film to be a hard drama and very depressing, it was actually very heart warming and pretty funny at times. 

 3) Caché
When I first made this list, my #3 was Blue is the Warmest Color. Then I changed it to Tomboy because it wasn't as widely seen. Then I finally watched Caché and knew it was the one that had to go here. Basically what I'm trying to say is there are too many French language films I love. (I could've thrown Laurence Anyways in here too) But Caché was just SO interesting. This creepy guessing game keeps you on the edge of your seat.

    UGH, Cache, Laurence, Tomboy, Blue...perfection! French Films are, by a LARGE margin, my favorite films.

      They really are. The French language just sounds so beautiful. I could watch French movies all day.

    The only one I've seen is The Intouchables which I thought was pretty good. I've been wanting to see Cache for some time now. Guess I need to get on it. Water Lilies also sounds very interesting. Great post.

      Cache was tremendous, I think Water Lilies is on Netflix Instant too.

    Haven't seen the other two, but I was really surprised by The Intouchables. I thought it would be overly sappy, but it was really well done. Loved Omar Sy's performance, too.

    Oh, French films are awesome! Cache is superb, and thanks for the reminder on Water Lilies and The Intouchables. Really need to watch those.

    The Intouchables is the only one I've seen. I enjoyed it. I've heard of Cache but never really knew what it's about.

Indie Gems: Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Passionate about your profession? I had never heard of this film until it ended up on one of Jason's favorite horror movie lists around Halloween. It immediately sounded interesting to me, so of course I threw it in my Netflix queue. (and if I'm just now watching it after adding it around Halloween, you know how ridiculous my queue is) Taylor (Angela Goethals) is a journalist who, along with a film crew decides to follow around a serial killer named Leslie Vernon. (Nathan Baesel) He plans on doing the typical slasher thing - getting a bunch of drunk teens in an abandoned house and knocking them off one by one. He gets advice from a retired serial killer, Eugene (Scott Wilson) and is threatened by a man who's on to him, Doc Holloran (Robert Englund) Taylor and crew are there capturing it all. My Favorite Movie Youtube Channels

Starting around 2018, I started watching Youtube for more than just movie trailers or music videos whenever a new one dropped. Now I'm in full blown subscription mode and don't bat an eyelash at watching a Youtube video that's over an hour long. I watch Youtube for a few different categories of content, but one of them that I love most is movie/TV essays and commentary, and that's what I'm going to talk about today. Below is a list of my favorite movie related Youtube channels.
