Thursday Movie Picks: TV Edition - Adapted From Non English TV Series

Wanderer is making it difficult for me this week. We're talking about shows that are adapted from Non-English series. I watch exactly one TV show (Attack on Titan) that didn't originate in the English language. Only one other thing came to mind right away, and the rest I had to dig for.

 1) American Ninja Warrior

 Ninja Warrior, or as it is known in Japan as Sasuke came to mind because I used to watch the Japanese version all the time on G4 (remember that channel?) It was great, The American remake has cool courses but makes us sit through every single competitor's back story which really brings the watchability down. 

 2) Iron Chef America

 Based off a Japanese cooking show, I watched one season of this, and it was only because I recognized a bunch of the competitors from Chopped. I liked it, but I'm still confused on what purpose Mark Dacascos serves? It's just awkward. 

 3) Fear Factor

 Apparently this was based off a Dutch show called Now or Neverland. I found this show incredibly boring for the most part so I was never a regular viewer.

    I think I saw one episode of Iron Chef but it was so long ago I don't remember. I've heard of the others but had no desire to see either.

    Extremely tough week! I'm sitting it out. I could only think of Homeland which certainly isn't what it used to be.

      Ninja Warrior (the Japanese version) is really fun. The rest I wouldn't rush out to see.

    I've never seen any of these shows and I just never had the interest for reality game shows. I used to get into Survivor but that eventually wore out its welcome.

    I seen a few episodes of all the shows, but that's it. Not a fan.

Recently, I was talking to someone about who I thought were the best child actors when I was also a child.  Two that really stood out to me were Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazello, and one film those two were in together was called Radio Flyer.  Then I was reminded about the uniqueness of this film. Indie Gems: Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Passionate about your profession? I had never heard of this film until it ended up on one of Jason's favorite horror movie lists around Halloween. It immediately sounded interesting to me, so of course I threw it in my Netflix queue. (and if I'm just now watching it after adding it around Halloween, you know how ridiculous my queue is) Taylor (Angela Goethals) is a journalist who, along with a film crew decides to follow around a serial killer named Leslie Vernon. (Nathan Baesel) He plans on doing the typical slasher thing - getting a bunch of drunk teens in an abandoned house and knocking them off one by one. He gets advice from a retired serial killer, Eugene (Scott Wilson) and is threatened by a man who's on to him, Doc Holloran (Robert Englund) Taylor and crew are there capturing it all. Earlier this week I made a post where I ran through the letters of the alphabet with my favorite movie titles. There were a few people that suggested I turn it into a blogathon, and I've never done that before. So here goes nothing!
