2012 Golden Globe Winners

Here are the 2012 Golden Globe winners. As always, my thoughts will follow in green. Ricky Gervais was hosting again, and honestly it went a lot better than I expected. I found him to be terribly boring last year, but this time around he had some decent jokes.

Best Picture (Drama): The Descendants
I thought War Horse would win since the Best Drama at the Globes never wins at the Oscar, but Descendants won instead. I'm fine with this because I really enjoyed the movie, but I was a little surprised to see how many were against this win.

Best Actor in a Movie (Drama): George Clooney, The Descendants
Again, I'm ok with it, but really Michael Fassbender probably deserved it. As Clooney pointed out, he did go full frontal..

Best Picture (Comedy or Musical): The Artist
I figured this would happen, I think 50/50 deserved it. Thank God it wasn't Bridesmaids.

Best Actress in a Movie (Drama): Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady
I was surprised here too, but Streep's acceptance speeches are always great. She includes her peers, which I love. I love that she gave a shout out to Pariah, small movie that not many people (me included) have seen. If only she would've given a shout out to the snubbed Elizabeth Olsen..

Best Actor in a Movie (Comedy or Musical): Jean Dujardin, The Artist
Joseph Gordon-Levitt should've won. Just sayin'.

Best TV Series (Comedy or Musical): Modern Family
I really need to watch this already.

Best Director: Martin Scorsese, Hugo
Hugo never interested me, but I do love me some Scorsese.

Best Supporting Actress in a Movie: Octavia Spencer, The Help
I had predicted Chastain as the winner but Spencer is deserving too. Her speech nearly brought me to tears. It DID bring Melissa McCarthy to tears. It was just beautiful all around.

Best Actor in a TV Series (Comedy or Musical): Matt LeBlanc, Episodes
Really? I didn't know people thought Matt LeBlanc was funny. I sure don't.

Best Actress in a TV Series (Drama): Claire Danes, Homeland

Best Foreign Language Movie: A Separation (Iran)

Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series, Miniseries, or TV Movie: Jessica Lange, American Horror Story
I need to check this out as well. I thought Kelly MacDonald would win. I wanted Evan Rachel Wood to win.

Best Screenplay: Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen
Allen wasn't even there to pick it up! Midnight in Paris was beautiful, I just hope 50/50 makes it into the Oscar race.

Best Animated Movie: The Adventures of Tintin

Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, Miniseries, or TV Movie: Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones
My husband "guran-fucking-teed" me that Dinklage would win again for his favorite show. Good for you dear. Aaron Paul should've been nominated *cough*

Best Actress in a Movie (Comedy or Musical): Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn
Her speech was so sweet, good for her. An actress of her caliber deserves this.

Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie: Idris Elba, Luther

Best Original Song: “Masterpiece,” W.E.
Ugh, I hate Madonna. Was never a fan. I love how when she accepts an award, she's British, but when she presents, she's American. Figure out your accent, lady.

Best Original Score: Ludovic Bource, The Artist

Best TV Series (Drama): Homeland
Surprised. I don't watch Homeland, but I do watch Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, and they're great. Although Boardwalk's next season is probably going to suck because of the choices they made in their season 2 finale.

Best Actor in a TV Series (Drama): Kelsey Grammer, Boss
Fuck you, HFPA. How dare you award this to anyone but Bryan Cranston. You should be bowing down to his greatness, and Breaking Bad's greatness all around. That may have sounded mean, but it's true.

Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie: Kate Winslet, Mildred Pierce
Yay Kate Winslet! I love her, and they predictably panned to Leo in the crowd. They should just get married and get it over with.

Best Miniseries or TV Movie: Downton Abbey

Best Actress in a TV Series (Comedy or Musical): Laura Dern, Enlightened
I wish Tina Fey and Amy Poehlar could just share this. They're hilarious.

Best Supporting Actor in a Movie: Christopher Plummer, Beginners
This is coming in the mail via Netflix. I'm excited to see it.
