DVD Review: Ted

Another example of why it we shouldn't always judge a book by its cover*
*But seriously, when it comes to movies sometimes it's best to do so.
When I saw previews for Ted last year, I thought it looked like one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. A talking teddy bear by the guy that did Family Guy? Pass.

John (Mark Wahlberg) wishes for his teddy bear to come to life when he was a child, and it does. Ted and John grow up together, and now John must choose whether to stay with his crude best buddy, or take the next step with girlfriend, Lori. (Mila Kunis)

I was right about Ted being stupid, but I was not expecting it to be as funny as it was. There were tons of laughs. I was afraid Seth MacFarlane's jokes would get old, but thankfully they held up. It's nice to see Mark Wahlberg doing comedy again, although his co star Mila Kunis didn't have much to work with. Any actress could've played her part. Ted doesn't go out of it's way to explain how the hell a teddy bear came to life, and it doesn't need to. The script is simple, the actors are likable, and the laughs are big. It works.

Recommended: Yes

Grade: B-

Memorable Quote: "Someone had to go Joan Crawford on that kid." - John (Mark Wahlberg)
