Review: Hotel Transylvania 2

There's a reason they're called a litter.

I never saw the first Hotel Transylvania, my kid was still an infant, so I never bothered. Thankfully you don't need to see the first one to follow along.

Dracula (Adam Sandler) is a new grandfather after his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) has a son with her human husband Jonathan (Andy Samberg). Fast forward five years, and he still doesn't have his fangs. Dracula is having trouble accepting that his son might actually be a human instead of a vampire.

Of all the animated films I've taken my son to this year, this is the one he laughed the hardest in. Same with me, this movie has some hilariously stupid moments. I'm a sucker for some of the voice actors in this, like Steve Buscemi and Keegan Michael Key. My only complaint - the music. I love Mark Mothersbaugh, but I hate when films overly feature one artist just because they're also a voice actor. In this case, that person is Selena Gomez. It was just too much. My husband complained about the same thing in Home. (With Rihanna)

    I was late to the party with the first film and I was pleasantly surprised, so I'm really looking forward to the sequel! Glad to see you enjoyed it :)

      I actually preferred this to almost ugly crying in Inside Out. lol I hope you like it too.

    I love the first film and so does, surprisingly my hubby and we both want to see this one. Sounds like the first film which is good to hear.

Indie Gems: Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Passionate about your profession? I had never heard of this film until it ended up on one of Jason's favorite horror movie lists around Halloween. It immediately sounded interesting to me, so of course I threw it in my Netflix queue. (and if I'm just now watching it after adding it around Halloween, you know how ridiculous my queue is) Taylor (Angela Goethals) is a journalist who, along with a film crew decides to follow around a serial killer named Leslie Vernon. (Nathan Baesel) He plans on doing the typical slasher thing - getting a bunch of drunk teens in an abandoned house and knocking them off one by one. He gets advice from a retired serial killer, Eugene (Scott Wilson) and is threatened by a man who's on to him, Doc Holloran (Robert Englund) Taylor and crew are there capturing it all. Earlier this week I made a post where I ran through the letters of the alphabet with my favorite movie titles. There were a few people that suggested I turn it into a blogathon, and I've never done that before. So here goes nothing!
