Thursday Movie Picks - Time Loops

This week's theme from Wandering Through The Shelves are movies featuring time loops. These three picks came pretty quickly to me this week. I adore all three films I'm about to talk about.

1) Looper -
This might seem too easy, but I adore Rian Johnson's movie about a man whose job it is to travel through time and take people out.

2) See You Yesterday -
This movie is about two teenagers who build a time machine to stop one of their brothers from being murdered by a police officer. Last I checked, this was available on Netflix and it's a quick, yet powerful watch.

3) Palm Springs -
This film about two people stuck in a time loop at a wedding is fun. The actors bounce off each other so well.

  1. Looper is the only film in that list that I've seen. I haven't seen the other 2 picks as I also wanted to go for something really different.

  2. I've only seen Palm Springs. I liked it, mostly because of Andy Samberg, but by the end I was ready for it to be over.

Groundhog Day occurred to me of course but my initial thought was a nifty 1947 noir called Repeat Performance. It begins with Joan Leslie shooting her husband dead on New Year's Eve and fleeing their apartment but when she returns he's there, alive and it's a full year earlier.

  4. I haven’t seen See You Yesterday, I think I thought it would be too juvenile.
Palm Springs is one I want to watch.

  5. I've seen and enjoyed Looper. The other two have been recommended to me, so I'm guessing I'll get to them soon.

    1. I hope you like them! Especially See You Yesterday. The kids were great in that.

  6. Have you seen Predestination? First movie that comes to mind when I think time loops, and I’d highly recommend it. Sadly one that flew way under the radar.

    1. I did! I had a hard time following that movie, but I thought Sarah Snook was great in it.

  7. I actually really adored Palm Springs and think I prefer "romantic" time loop movies? I also loved The Map of Tiny Perfect Things (which was said to be like a teen Palm Springs) and the German movie Hello Again - a wedding a day, where the lead character has to witness her best friend, who she thinks she loves, get married again every single day.
