2022 Emmy Winners
I went 14/21 with my picks...just like last year. Don't let anyone ever tell you I'm not consistent. Overall, the show itself was kind of boring. There were a lot of comedy bits that just didn't land for me, but thankfully the speeches and some of the presenters made up for it. A lot of my favorite shows won, and a few others that I need to watch did too! Here is a list of winners + my quick thoughts.
OUTSTANDING DRAMA
Better Call Saul
Euphoria
Ozark
Severance
Squid Game
Stranger Things (Season 4, Volume 1)
Succession
Yellowjackets
I'm glad Succession won this. I was starting to lose confidence with how much they'd been losing in other categories.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Jodie Comer, Killing Eve
Laura Linney, Ozark
Melanie Lynskey, Yellowjackets
Sandra Oh, Killing Eve
Reese Witherspoon, The Morning Show
Zendaya, Euphoria
Zendaya wins again! Her speech about hearing fan's stories and knowing a Rue and loving a Rue was so lovely. You can tell she pours her heart and soul into this role.
LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Jason Bateman, Ozark
Brian Cox, Succession
Lee Jung-jae, Squid Game
Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul
Adam Scott, Severance
Jeremy Strong, Succession
Lee becomes the first Asian man to win this award. I really thought Strong was going to win, but I suppose he split votes with Cox. I'm happy for Squid Game either way. It was a great show, and he was great in it.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Patricia Arquette, Severance
Julia Garner, Ozark
Jung Ho-yeon, Squid Game
Christina Ricci, Yellowjackets
Rhea Seehorn, Better Call Saul
J. Smith-Cameron, Succession
Sarah Snook, Succession
Sydney Sweeney, Euphoria
3 for Julia! I love her as an actress so I'm happy for her, even if I need to finish this series.
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Nicholas Braun, Succession
Billy Crudup, The Morning Show
Kieran Culkin, Succession
Park Hae-soo, Squid Game
Matthew Macfayden, Succession
John Turturro, Severance

Oh Yeong-su, Squid Game
I screamed when he won. Get it, Tom!

Martha Kelly, Euphoria
Sanaa Lathan, Succession
Harriet Walter, Succession
Lee Yoo-mi, Squid Game
GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA

Alexander Skarsgard, Succession
Another win I'm so happy about.
OUTSTANDING COMEDY
Abbott Elementary
Barry
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Hacks
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Only Murders in the Building
Ted Lasso
What We Do in the Shadows
I think a lot of people were hoping Abbott Elementary would win, especially since they won so many other awards, but Ted Lasso prevailed. It's my favorite show on TV right now so obviously I'm fine with that.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Kaley Cuoco, The Flight Attendant
Elle Fanning, The Great
Issa Rae, Insecure
Jean Smart, Hacks
Jean Smart lost a bet and thanked someone for giving her botox and we really should normalize thanking your plastic surgeon. Also Rachel Brosnahan is so hot I don't know what to do with myself.
LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Donald Glover, Atlanta
Bill Hader, Barry
Nicholas Hoult, The Great
Steve Martin, Only Murders in the Building
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso
Olivia shockingly did not serve him any type of papers when he got up there.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Alex Borstein, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Hannah Einbinder, Hacks
Janelle James, Abbott Elementary
Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live
Sarah Niles, Ted Lasso
Sheryl Lee Ralph, Abbott Elementary
Juno Temple, Ted Lasso
Hannah Waddingham, Ted Lasso
Her speech was fantastic. As much as I was rooting for Hannah, I can't be mad after that speech.
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Anthony Carrigan, Barry
Brett Goldstein, Ted Lasso
Toheeb Jimoh, Ted Lasso
Nick Mohammed, Ted Lasso
Tony Shalhoub, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Tyler James Williams, Abbott Elementary
Henry Winkler, Barry
Bowen Yang, Saturday Night Live
I should've picked Brett. I didn't think he'd repeat, but I should've known better.
GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Jane Adams, Hacks
Harriet Sansom Harris, Hacks
Jane Lynch, Only Murders in the Building
Laurie Metcalf, Hacks
Kaitlin Olson, Hacks
Harriet Walter, Ted Lasso
I'm so mad at myself for picking Lynch when I wanted Metcalf to win.
GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Jerrod Carmichael, Saturday Night Live
Bill Hader, Curb Your Enthusiasm
James Lance, Ted Lasso
Nathan Lane, Only Murders in the Building
Christopher McDonald, Hacks
Sam Richardson, Ted Lasso
OUTSTANDING LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES
Dopesick
The Dropout
Inventing Anna
Pam & Tommy
The White Lotus
The White Lotus' Jake Lacy is starring in a Peacock series based off the Netflix doc Abducted in Plain Site which is buckwild. And that's what's currently distracting me at the moment.
OUTSTANDING MADE-FOR-TELEVISION MOVIE
Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers
Ray Donovan: The Movie
Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon
The Survivor
Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas
I cannot believe this won. I'm glad, it's awesome, but that's a huge surprise, right?

Toni Collette, The Staircase
Julia Garner, Inventing Anna
Lily James, Pam & Tommy
Sarah Paulson, Impeachment: American Crime Story

Murray Bartlett, The White Lotus
Jake Lacy, The White Lotus

OUTSTANDING VARIETY TALK SERIES
The Daily Show With Trevor Noah
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
Late Night With Seth Meyers
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I can watch this show win over and over.
I just don't watch the Emmys any more because I do t know anyone. I like Jennifer Coolidge who, I think, is a funny lady. Who is Olivia (Olivia Wilde) and why would she serve Jason papers? I'm assuming nasty divorce?
ReplyDeleteClose! Custody agreements. She got served papers during a Q&A for Don't Worry Darling so I almost wondered if she'd try to pull a stunt to combat that.
DeleteOuch! That's cold
DeleteI'm happy for Zendaya, Jennifer Coolidge (I liked her dance), and Amanda Seyfried. I'm glad they won and I also love John Oliver as I just love how passionate he is about things. I still love the one he did on Singapore's gambling ad in relation to the 2014 World Cup and how it backfired. I also love that he hates WWE (before HHH took over creative and he's right about CM Puke) and Warner Discovery. I'm also happy that the Beatles won some Emmys for Get Back as well as Marvel getting a few including one for Chadwick Boseman. Oh, Eminem and Adele also got Emmys which means... they need the Tony to become... ELITE. Come on, let's get those two to write something with NIN and then they can all become.... ELITE.
ReplyDeleteI would be here for EGOT Eminem and Adele! Let's get Lizzo on her way there too. John Oliver's Adam Driver jokes are some of my favorite. I love that he snuck another one in last week on his Law and Order part.
