2024 Emmy Nominations

It's Emmy season! Below is a list of the main acting nominees plus my thoughts, because you know I have a lot of them. A full list can be seen HERE

Outstanding Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Hacks
Only Murders in the Building
Palm Royale
Reservation Dogs
What We Do in the Shadows
I watch all of these except Curb, Murders and Palm Royale, though I have not caught up with the most recent season of Hacks. I'm happy Res Dogs is getting a nom for its final season, and WWDITS is so underrated. More people should watch.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Ayo Edebiri, The Bear
Selena Gomez, Only Murders in the Building
Maya Rudolph, Loot
Jean Smart, Hacks
Kristen Wiig, Palm Royale
Selena Gomez finally getting a nomination is kind of shocking. All I've ever seen her do is sarcasm, maybe she finally broke the mold in Only Murder's 3rd season? You'll have to tell me. I'm team Ayo here.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Matt Berry, What We Do in the Shadows
Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Steve Martin, Only Murders in the Building
Jeremy Allen White, The Bear
D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Reservation Dogs
I cannot tell you how happy I am for Berry and Woon-A-Tai. Fucking AMAZING nominations there. So worth it. Woon-A-Tai is such a young talent and I loved Bear throughout the series. Matt Berry makes me laugh so much in WWDITS. I'm so glad those two finally got in.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy
Lionel Boyce, The Bear
Paul W. Downs, Hacks
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Bear
Paul Rudd, Only Murders in the Building
Tyler James Williams, Abbott Elementary
Bowen Yang, Saturday Night Live
Lionel Boyce getting in for the Bear is a nice surprise! He's a great part of the show. Quiet, kind, and not nearly as boisterous as some of the rest of the characters. Love his, Moss and Williams' nominations the most.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy
Carol Burnett, Palm Royale
Sheryl Lee Ralph, Abbott Elementary
Hannah Einbinder, Hacks
Janelle James, Abbott Elementary
Liza Colon-Zayas, The Bear
Meryl Streep, Only Murders in the Building
It's nice to see Liza Colon-Zayas here! And the two Abbott women who make me laugh so much every week.

Outstanding Drama Series
The Crown
Fallout
The Gilded Age
The Morning Show
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Shogun
Slow Horses
3 Body Problem
I'm very happy to see Shogun, 3 Body Problem and Fallout here. I can't say I keep up with the rest. I weep for Tokyo Vice though. You can't convince me The Morning Show recovered and is better than what Tokyo Vice did with their second season.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Donald Glover, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Walton Goggins, Fallout
Gary Oldman, Slow Horses
Hiroyuki Sanada, Shogun
Dominic West, The Crown
Yes for Sanada and Goggins! Both great in their roles. I need to watch Mr. and Mrs Smith. I did not like the movie but I've heard good things about the show, and I always love Glover.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show
Maya Erskine, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Carrie Coon, The Gilded Age
Anna Sawai, Shogun
Imelda Staunton, The Crown
Reese Witherspoon, The Morning Show
ANNA SAWAI!!!! I was going to lose my mind if she was snubbed.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Billy Crudup, The Morning Show
Tadanobu Asano, Shogun
Mark Duplass, The Morning Show
Jon Hamm, The Morning Show
Takehiro Hira, Shogun
Jack Lowden, Slow Horses
Jonathan Pryce, The Crown
Tadanobu Asano was so great in Shogun, I never knew if I could trust him. I'm surprised there was room for Hira to get a nomination as well.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Christine Baranski, The Gilded Age
Nicole Beharie, The Morning Show
Elizabeth Debicki, The Crown
Greta Lee, The Morning Show
Lesley Manville, The Crown
Karen Pittman, The Morning Show
Holland Taylor, The Morning Show
Was season 3 of The Morning Show...good, actually? I didn't go back after how much I hated season 2. It's too bad some of the other Shogun ladies couldn't land here like Moeka Hoshi, who gave a great performance or Rinko Kikuchi in Tokyo Vice.

Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series
Baby Reindeer
Fargo
Lessons in Chemistry
Ripley
True Detective: Night Country
I haven't seen Lessons in Chemistry or Ripley, but the other 3 I expected to see here Really enjoyed them (Well, enjoyed Baby Reindeer as much as one can)

Outstanding TV Movie
Mr Monk's Last Case
Quiz Lady
Red, White, and Royal Blue
Scoop
Unfrosted
I've only seen Red, White, and Royal Blue here, but...sure. It was fine.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited, Anthology Series or TV Movie
Jodie Foster, True Detective: Night Country
Brie Larson, Lessons in Chemistry
Juno Temple, Fargo
Sofia Vergara, Griselda
Naomi Watts, Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Juno Temple should be winning this. She gave her finest work in the newest season of Fargo. I know Brie seems to be the favorite, but I'm begging voters to look at Juno.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited, Anthology Series or TV Movie
Matt Bomer, Fellow Travelers
Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer
Jon Hamm, Fargo
Tom Hollander, Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Andrew Scott, Ripley
I can hear Tom Hollander's Capote voice when I read this. This has to go to Richard Gadd though, I'd imagine. Even though I have a great love for Andrew Scott.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited, Anthology Series or TV Movie
Dakota Fanning, Ripley
Lily Gladstone, Under the Bridge
Jessica Gunning, Baby Reindeer
Aja Naomi King, Lessons in Chemistry
Diane Lane, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans
Nava Mau, Baby Reindeer
Kali Reis, True Detective: Night Country
There's some great nominations here! First, Kali Reis. I think she should be in Lead, but I'm happy she's nominated either way. She was my favorite part of Night Country. Lily Gladstone is also a great choice. I think Under The Bridge really fell apart as it went on, but she was a strong constant throughout. And Dakota Fanning! I just love her, and even though I haven't finished Ripley, I'm always happy to see her name. Finally, Jessica Gunning. She was so good that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to watch her in anything ever again.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited, Anthology Series, or TV Movie
Jonathan Bailey, Fellow Travelers
Robert Downey Jr., The Sympathizer
Tom Goodman-Hill, Baby Reindeer
John Hawkes, True Detective: Night Country
Lamorne Morris, Fargo
Lewis Pullman, Lessons in Chemistry
Treat Williams, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans
I LOVE Lamorne Morris being here! His character was so nice in Fargo. John Hawkes is a great actor, but his character served no purpose in Night Country. I mean, he *does* but not until the very last second. I imagine Downey dominating this one.

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Bernthal, The Bear
Matthew Broderick, Only Murders in the Building
Ryan Gosling, Saturday Night Live
Christopher Lloyd, Hacks
Bob Odenkirk, The Bear
Will Poulter, The Bear
Eustice is an Emmy nominee!

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Nester Carbonell, Shogun
Paul Dano, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Tracy Letts, Winning Time
Jonathan Pryce, Slow Horces
John Tuturro, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Paul Dano is credited as "hot neighbor" and now I really need to watch this..

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy
Olivia Colman, The Bear
Jamie Lee Curtis, The Bear
Kaitlin Olson, Hacks
Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Only Murders in the Building
Maya Rudolph, Saturday Night Live
Kristen Wiig, Saturday Night Live
I feel like Maya and Kristen get nominated no matter what. They're a bit underwhelming, but The Bear ladies were wonderful and it's nice to see Oscar winner Da'Vine here too.

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama
Michaela Coel, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Claire Foy, The Crown
Marcia Gay Harden, The Morning Show
Sarah Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Parker Posey, Mr. and Smith Smith
Michael Coel? Okay now I REALLY need to watch this. Also, it's hilarious that Claire Foy was so good as Queen Liz that she keeps getting nominated for flashbacks.

  1. Unfrosted got nominated? BOO!!!!! I haven't seen it but I heard it's fucking shit. I am happy for Selena Gomez, Dakota Fanning, the crew from The Bear and Shogun and most of all.... Ryan Gosling for his SNL hosting gig. GIVE HIM THE FUCKING AWARD! PLEASE!!!!!

    1. Unfrosted looks awful. I know that category is usually slim pickings but there had to be something better there. I wish Mikey Day would get nominated for SNL too. He deserves it for that Beavis and Butthead sketch alone. Same with Heidi Gardner.

  2. So, I only know about these but have not seen any. I would choose Murders in the building to see for sure. I love the 2 main actors. I ha e watched a few episodes of Shadows and think it's hilarious. That psychic vampire is spot on as I knew someone like that back in university
