Carol (Lake Bell) is the daughter of a famous voice over actor, Sam (Fred Melamed) whose been trying to break into the business herself. She's mostly doing accent coaching, but when she lands the part of doing a trailer for an upcoming big franchise, the voice over world just isn't ready to handle the female voice.

Lake Bell is becoming somewhat of an "it girl" on the indie scene, and I was never really sure why until I saw this. She wrote and directed this and shows a lot of potential. The supporting cast of Rob Corddry, Demetri Martin, Ken Marino, and Alexandra Holden are particularly strong as well. (Eva Longoria and Cameron Diaz also make cameos as themselves) 

In A World had plenty of witty one liners and managed to make an extremely infuriating topic (Men's world, women can't do it) intriguing. 

Grade: B+

    I just recorded this last weekend during EPIX's preview. The only film I had managed to get recorded. I'll watch it this month once I'm back to full strength.

    Nice job, the Eva Longoria was hilarious. I really enjoyed this film, certainly has strong elements of feminism (a women becoming/trying to become successful in a male dominated world).

      It definitely has strong elements of feminism. I especially liked the dad's girlfriend standing up to him at the end. That was a great little moment.

    In a World... is such a charming film! I wasn't that familiar with Lake Bell and enjoyed her so much in this movie. I saw in the theaters on a whim and had a great time. I'm right with you on it.

Recently, I was talking to someone about who I thought were the best child actors when I was also a child.  Two that really stood out to me were Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazello, and one film those two were in together was called Radio Flyer.  Then I was reminded about the uniqueness of this film. Indie Gems: Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Passionate about your profession? I had never heard of this film until it ended up on one of Jason's favorite horror movie lists around Halloween. It immediately sounded interesting to me, so of course I threw it in my Netflix queue. (and if I'm just now watching it after adding it around Halloween, you know how ridiculous my queue is) Taylor (Angela Goethals) is a journalist who, along with a film crew decides to follow around a serial killer named Leslie Vernon. (Nathan Baesel) He plans on doing the typical slasher thing - getting a bunch of drunk teens in an abandoned house and knocking them off one by one. He gets advice from a retired serial killer, Eugene (Scott Wilson) and is threatened by a man who's on to him, Doc Holloran (Robert Englund) Taylor and crew are there capturing it all. Earlier this week I made a post where I ran through the letters of the alphabet with my favorite movie titles. There were a few people that suggested I turn it into a blogathon, and I've never done that before. So here goes nothing!
