84 years later, I'm here to share my thoughts on the Emmy winners. I didn't get to watch the show live, and I've been traveling since. Below is a list of winners + my thoughts. I'd love to hear yours in the comments

So I knew The Pitt was popular (I plan on starting it after I wrap up 2 series I have on deck beforehand) but I was really surprised to see it overtake Severance here. 

Best Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
Hacks
Nobody Wants This
Only Murders in the Building
Shrinking
The Studio
The Studio winning big was no surprise here. Seth Rogen had a good night. 

Best Limited or Anthology Series
Adolescence
Black Mirror
Dying for Sex
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
The Penguin
Adolescence had a great showing tonight, and it was very well deserved. I hate that this had to go head to head with The Penguin. In a perfect world, they'd both win. 
 
Best Television Movie
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
The Gorge
Mountainhead
Nonnas
Rebel Ridge
I've had this in my Netflix queue for ages. I need to start it. 

Best Talk Series
The Daily Show
Jimmy Kimmel Live! 
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert 
The minute they unjustly cancelled Colbert's show, this Emmy was his. Maybe it was before that, but that definitely sealed the deal. Fuck CBS.

 
Best Scripted Variety Series
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
Saturday Night Live
The King continues his reign

Best Actor in a Drama Series

Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us
Adam Scott, Severance
Noah Wyle, The Pitt
Another surprise for me for the same reason as Drama. I thought it was going to Severence

Best Actress in a Drama Series
Kathy Bates, Matlock

What a night for Britts!

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Zach Cherry, Severance
Walton Goggins, The White Lotus

Tramell Tillman, Severance
John Turturro, Severance
This was the Severance win I was rooting for the most and I'm so glad it happened. Horrifying to think Tillman is the first black man to win in this category though. Seriously...in 2025.

Colin Farrell, The Penguin
Stephen Graham, Adolescence
Jake Gyllenhaal, Presumed Innocent
Brian Tyree Henry, Dope Thief
Cooper Koch, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Stephen Graham (who I will always see as Al Capone, even when I re-watch Snatch) is great but I was really rooting for Colin here. 

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Patricia Arquette, Severance
Carrie Coon, The White Lotus
Katherine LaNasa, The Pitt
Julianne Nicholson, Paradise
Parker Posey, The White Lotus
Natasha Rothwell, The White Lotus
Aimee Lou Wood, The White Lotus
I guess they got their Julianne quota in Guest Actress. 

Best Actress in a Comedy Series
Uzo Aduba, The Residence
Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Ayo Edebiri, The Bear
Jean Smart, Hacks
The Jean reign continues I would like Ayo to win here eventually, but it's hard to argue with how good Smart is in Hacks. I hope Ayo gets her Lead Emmy some day. 

Best Actor in a Comedy Series

Seth Rogen, The Studio
Jason Segel, Shrinking
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Jeremy Allen White, The Bear
I'm pretty sure Rogen won everything for The Studio. 

Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

This was a huge upset and even though I don't watch the show, it makes me smile a bit. There's a lot of big dogs in this category, so for Jeff Hiller to win is huge.

Update: I finally predicted Einbinder correctly! Season 4 of Hacks so far has definitely been her best work (I'm on episode 5) Her speech of course went viral, as she's a very vocal Jewish woman against the state of Israel and told ICE to go fuck themselves, so really what more could you want?

Michelle Williams, Dying for Sex
The Penguin did take home one acting award and thankfully it was for the Queen herself. I'm so happy for her.

Owen Cooper became the youngest person to win this award at age 15! I'm so happy for him. He was amazing in Adolescence and I hope he continues to have a great career.

I was not sure she'd pull this off, but she did! I love that Doherty won her. I'm going to pretend this is also for her portrayal of Princess Anne in The Crown because she was amazing there too.
