2026 Academy Award Winners
We made it to the biggest night of the year! This was certainly a whirlwind of a production. Host Conan O'Brien started out really strong with a Weapons parody, but the production for the rest of the show left a lot to be desired. The sound wasn't very good (maybe that was just my station?) the orchestra cut off several speeches including retracting the mic and dimming lights on winners. Completely awful look.
I also felt really weird about the In Memoriam segment. It's awkward when certain people are called out above others. Because yes, there are arguably more popular people on that list, but they're ALL someone's favorite and it just felt a little odd to single some out, even if it was a lovely tribute
I Lied To You and Golden's performances were 10/10 no notes.
I went 18/24 with my picks! Even though there was a tie, one of my picks still won so I'm counting it. Below is a full list of winners followed by more thoughts.
Best Picture
Bugonia
F1
Frankenstein
Hamnet
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
The Secret Agent
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Train Dreams
Teyana Taylor was having the best time all night so it was so fun to finally get to see her celebrate ON the stage.
Best Director
Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another
Ryan Coogler – Sinners
Josh Safdie – Marty Supreme
Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value
Chloé Zhao – Hamnet
You should've won this for There Will Be Blood my dude! Glad he's got it for this though.
Best Lead Actress
Jessie Buckley – Hamnet
Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue
Renate Reinsve – Sentimental Value
Emma Stone – Bugonia
Jessie! She's been sweeping all season and I'm still so chuffed every time she wins. She gave a beautiful speech.
Best Lead Actor
Timothée Chalamet – Marty Supreme
Leonardo DiCaprio – One Battle After Another
Ethan Hawke – Blue Moon
Michael B. Jordan – Sinners
Wagner Moura – The Secret Agent
Timothee Chalamet's fumble of his Oscar campaign needs to be studied. I love Michael, and he was my #2 in this category so I'm happy for this win. Poor guy looked like he malfunctioned when they called his name. I love that he took a second to take it all in when he got on stage too. It sounded like that room exploded.
Best Supporting Actress
Elle Fanning – Sentimental Value
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas – Sentimental Value
Amy Madigan – Weapons
Wunmi Mosaku – Sinners
Teyana Taylor – One Battle After Another
And the SAG winner comes through! This was a hell of a year for Supporting Actress. I was predicting Wunmi, because I wanted more Sinners wins, but I can't be mad about Amy Madigan. Such a great performance and Zach Cregger looked like he was going to cry when she was up there. I can't believe one of the Whitest Kids U'Know directed an Oscar winning performance. And he didn't even have her do it happier with her mouth open
Best Supporting Actor
Benicio Del Toro – One Battle After Another
Jacob Elordi – Frankenstein
Delroy Lindo – Sinners
Sean Penn – One Battle After Another
Stellan Skarsgård – Sentimental Value
When Kieran Culkin presented this, he said he hoped he would give someone a life changing moment like he got...and then he said Sean Penn's name, and he wasn't even there to accept. So underwhelming. Stellan was right there! Or Delroy! Or Benicio and his three small beers!
Best Adapted Screenplay
Bugonia
Frankenstein
Hamnet
One Battle After Another
Train Dreams
It's crazy that THIS was PTA's first Oscar.
Best Original Screenplay
Blue Moon
It Was Just an Accident
Marty Supreme
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Ryan Coogler is an Oscar winner! I hope this is the first of many.
Best Animated Feature
Arco
Elio
KPop Demon Hunters
Little Amélie or The Character of Rain
Zootopia 2
Everyone saw this coming but I'll never argue two Korean woman winning Oscars.
Best Documentary Feature
The Alabama Solution
Come See Me in the Good Light
Cutting Through Rocks
Mr. Nobody Against Putin
The Perfect Neighbor
This was one of the biggest shockers to me. I thought The Perfect Neighbor had it, even though it was a very American story. Mr Nobody was my second favorite, and also a very important story. I imagine it probably resonated with a lot more international voters.
Best International Feature Film
It Was Just an Accident – France
The Secret Agent– Brazil
Sentimental Value – Norway
Sirāt – Spain
The Voice of Hind Rajab – Tunisia
Javiar Bardem started off announcing this category by yelling "No war and free Palestine" and I love him for that. So happy to see Sentimental Value pull out the win here. This was a stacked category but it was so good. It makes me mad that the filmmakers don't get to keep these Oscars though. It looked so right in Trier's hands.
Best Casting
The Secret Agent
Hamnet
One Battle After Another
Sinners
Marty Supreme
Discovering Chase Infiniti does wonders. I'm pretty disappointed Sinners didn't win here. I really thought it would.
Best Cinematography
Frankenstein
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sinners
Train Dreams
Holy shit! We have our first female cinematographer winner with Autumn Durald Arkapaw! This was a huge surprise. Ryan Coogler even ran back and got her kid to bring him closer to the stage so he could see. It was so special.
Best Costume Design
Avatar: Fire and Ash
Frankenstein
Hamnet
Marty Supreme
Sinners
Congratulations for putting Mia Goth in all those beautiful gowns
Best Film Editing
F1
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Best Make-Up & Hairstyling
Frankenstein
Kokuho
Sinners
The Smashing Machine
The Ugly Stepsister
Frankenstein deserved this but one last time I say - I'm so happy The Ugly Stepsister got nominated.
Best Production Design
Frankenstein
Hamnet
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sinners
Best Original Score
Bugonia
Frankenstein
Hamnet
One Battle After Another
Sinners
King Ludwig Göransson wins again! This guy is already an all-timer.
Best Original Song
Dear Me– Diane Warren: Relentless
Golden – KPop Demon Hunters
I Lied to You – Sinners
Sweet Dreams of Joy– Viva Verdi!
Train Dreams – Train Dreams
Ejae gives the most heartfelt speeches every time this song wins. It makes me want to cry. Then they played off the rest of her song writing team during their speech AND dimmed the lights on them. Insane.
Best Sound
F1
Frankenstein
One Battle After Another
Sinners
Sirāt
I wish Sirat or Sinners would've won here.
Best Visual Effects
Avatar: Fire and Ash
F1
Jurassic World: Rebirth
The Lost Bus
Sinners
Sigourney Weaver looked so moved announcing this win which is hilarious because no other movie had a chance.
Best Animated Short Film
Butterfly
Forevergreen
The Girl Who Cried Pearls
Retirement Plan
The Three Sisters
I appreciate the work stop motion takes, but I'm so bummed Butterfly didn't win here.
Best Documentary Short Film
All the Empty Rooms
Armed Only with a Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud
Children No More: Were and are Gone
The Devil is Busy
Perfectly a Strangeness
The Devil is Busy was my personal favorite, but this was my easy #2. Such a great doc, and something that I hate to say I've thought about with a child in an American school.
Live Action Short Film
Butcher’s Stain
A Friend of Dorothy
Jane Austen’s Period Drama
The Singers
Two People Exchanging Saliva
It's a tie! If it were me voting, it would be Two People and Jane Austen tying. The Singers was the second weakest of this bunch for me. I'm actually kind of shocked that it was The Singers tying. I thought A Friend of Dorothy was getting a late surge.

There has to be a case study of how to lose an Oscar when you're spending money on campaigning and it was all for nothing. I thought Timothee was going to win but once he dissed opera and ballet. I knew things were not going to go well and he was all over my YouTube subscription feed as I couldn't take it anymore. I love the dude but he needs to take some time off. Dump that ugly heifer in one of them Kartrashians. He really did look bad.
ReplyDeleteStill, I am ELATED for Michael B. Jordan. He deserved this. I'm also happy for Ryan Coogler, P.T. Anderson, and the people from Frankenstein, Autumn.... so deserving. I was hoping for either Stellan or Delroy to win Best Supporting Actor. Not surprised but happy for both Amy and Jessie. Fucking relieved that Diane Warren LOSES again! Bitch needs to stop as she just writes nothing but shit.
