2025 Emmy Nominations
I'm a few days late with this post because (you guessed it) I've been traveling. But the 2025 Emmy nominations are here! Once again the Emmy voters voted like they've only seen 5 shows in some categories, but there are some nice surprises here.
Best Drama Series
Andor
The Diplomat
The Last of Us
Paradise
The Pitt
Severance
Slow Horses
The White Lotus
I'm so happy to see Andor here after their amazing final season. I've seen 4 of the shows in this category, and others are on my never ending "I need to start this" list. I'm bummed for The Rings of Power, which never had a chance but I really enjoy.
Best Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
Hacks
Nobody Wants This
Only Murders in the Building
Shrinking
The Studio
What We Do in the Shadows
I'm very happy for What We Do in the Shadows making it in for their final season. It really should win for how consistently hilarious it's been over 6+ years. I hear so many good things about The Studio and Shrinking.
Best Limited or Anthology Series
Adolescence
Black Mirror
Dying for Sex
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
The Penguin
Dying for Sex is the only one I haven't seen here. I was going to be all in for The Penguin this season but then Adolescence comes in and is amazing. I'd be happy with either of those wins.
Best Television Movie
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
The Gorge
Mountainhead
Nonnas
Rebel Ridge
The only one I've seen here is The Gorge, which I liked, so that's all I can root for.
Best Reality Competition Program
The Amazing Race
RuPaul’s Drag Race
Survivor
Top Chef
The Traitors
I don't care about this category aside from RuPaul because Queens should always win.
Best Talk Series
The Daily Show
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Apparently this is capped at 3 nominations. I would've put Seth Meyers in over Stephen Colbert personally. His Late Show humor has never grown on me the way his Colbert Report stuff did.
Best Scripted Variety Series
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
Saturday Night Live
I don't understand how this category only has two shows? But John Oliver should continue to win.
Best Actor in a Drama Series
Sterling K. Brown, Paradise
Gary Oldman, Slow Horses
Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us
Adam Scott, Severance
Noah Wyle, The Pitt
Happy to see Pedro here and Adam Scott for the amazing performance he gave in season too. It's sad to see Diego Luna miss for Andor though.
Best Actress in a Drama Series
Kathy Bates, Matlock
Sharon Horgan, Bad Sisters
Britt Lower, Severance
Bella Ramsey, The Last of Us
Keri Russell, The Diplomat
Another category where I've only seen 2 shows (Severance and The Last of Us) but happy for both of these nominees. This was Britt's strongest season.
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Zach Cherry, Severance
Walton Goggins, The White Lotus
Jason Isaacs, The White Lotus
James Marsden, Paradise
Sam Rockwell, The White Lotus
Tramell Tillman, Severance
John Turturro, Severance
It's very cool to see Zach Herry and Tramell Tillman here. I've got to root for Tillman, he was just outstanding. The Emmys also continue their habit of nominating EVERYONE in the White Lotus, which is annoying for all the other shows.
Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Colin Farrell, The Penguin
Stephen Graham, Adolescence
Jake Gyllenhaal, Presumed Innocent
Brian Tyree Henry, Dope Thief
Cooper Koch, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Colin Farrell, MY GUY!! Graham was great in Adolescence but only one person in this category underwent the Penguin make up and still managed to give a great performance deserves it.
Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Patricia Arquette, Severance
Carrie Coon, The White Lotus
Katherine LaNasa, The Pitt
Julianne Nicholson, Paradise
Parker Posey, The White Lotus
Natasha Rothwell, The White Lotus
Aimee Lou Wood, The White Lotus
I'm happy for Aimee Lou, but again...so many White Lotus nominees. They couldn't nominate ANYONE from The Handmaid Tale's final season? Or Andor which had a ton of great female performers? The Rings of Power also has great performances but the Emmys forget that exists.
Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Giancarlo Esposito, The Boys
Scott Glenn, The White Lotus
Shawn Hatosy, The Pitt
Joe Pantoliano, The Last of Us
Forest Whitaker, Andor
Jeffrey Wright, The Last of Us
Forest Whitaker being the only acting nominee for Andor (aside from voice over performance) is certainly a choice.
Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Jane Alexander, Severance
Gwendoline Christie, Severance
Kaitlyn Dever, The Last of Us
Cherry Jones, The Handmaid’s Tale
Catherine O’Hara, The Last of Us
Merritt Wever, Severance
Cherry Jones is the last acting nominee for The Handmaid's Tale is pretty crazy. This is a rare category where I've seen all the performances, and I'd say Kaitlyn Dever is probably the strongest.
Best Actress in a Comedy Series
Uzo Aduba, The Residence
Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Ayo Edebiri, The Bear
Jean Smart, Hacks
Just over here happy for Quinta, Ayo and Jean.
Best Actor in a Comedy Series
Adam Brody, Nobody Wants This
Seth Rogen, The Studio
Jason Segel, Shrinking
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Jeremy Allen White, The Bear
It's fun to see Seth Rogen nominated for stuff, but Matt Berry missing out on What We Do in the Shadows is rough.
Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Ike Barinholtz, The Studio
Colman Domingo, The Four Seasons
Harrison Ford, Shrinking
Jeff Hiller, Somebody Somewhere
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Bear
Michael Urie, Shrinking
Bowen Yang, Saturday Night Live
I don't watch Somebody, Somewhere, but I've heard nothing but great things about this little show so seeing one of its actors break into the Emmys is nice. I can't say the same for Bowen Yang, who is inexplicably the only SNL nominee. He's the same in every sketch.
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Liza Colón-Zayas, The Bear
Hannah Einbinder, Hacks
Kathryn Hahn, The Studio
Janelle James, Abbott Elementary
Catherine O’Hara, The Studio
Sheryl Lee Ralph, Abbott Elementary
Jessica Williams, Shrinking
I know I complain about Hannah Einbinder being a co-lead every year...but she's a CO-LEAD
Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Bernthal, The Bear
Bryan Cranston, The Studio
Dave Franco, The Studio
Ron Howard, The Studio
Anthony Mackie, The Studio
Martin Scorsese, The Studio
Oh cool, they watched one show and remembered Jon Bernthal shows up in The Bear sometimes.
Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
Olivia Colman, The Bear
Jamie Lee Curtis, The Bear
Cynthia Erivo, Poker Face
Robby Hoffman, Hacks
Zoë Kravitz, The Studio
Julianne Nicholson, Hacks
Colman didn't have a ton to do in her guest appearance, but I always love seeing her nominated for things.
Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Cate Blanchett, Disclaimer
Meghann Fahy, Sirens
Rashida Jones, Black Mirror
Cristin Milioti, The Penguin
Michelle Williams, Dying for Sex
Cristin Milioti!!!!
Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Javier Bardem, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Bill Camp, Presumed Innocent
Owen Cooper, Adolescence
Rob Delaney, Dying for Sex
Peter Sarsgaard, Presumed Innocent
Ashley Walters, Adolescence
Owen Cooper became the youngest nominee in this category at the age of 15. I'm rooting for him, he was insanely good in Adolescence.
Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Erin Doherty, Adolescence
Ruth Negga, Presumed Innocent
Deirdre O’Connell, The Penguin
Chloë Sevigny, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Jenny Slate, Dying for Sex
Christine Tremarco, Adolescence
Thrilled to see Erin Doherty here. She should already have two more Emmy noms under her belt for The Crown.
Best Writing for a Comedy Series
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, Jen Statsky, Hacks
Nathan Fielder, Carrie Kemper, Adam Locke-Norton, Eric Notarnicola, The Rehearsal
Hannah Bos, Paul Thureen, Bridget Everett, Somebody Somewhere
Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, Frida Perez, The Studio
Sam Johnson, Sarah Naftalis, Paul Simms, What We Do in the Shadows

Best Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Jack Thorne, Stephen Graham, Adolescence

Joshua Zetumer, Say Nothing
Best Directing for a Comedy Series
Ayo Edebiri, The Bear
Lucia Aniello, Hacks
James Burrows, Mid-Century Modern
Nathan Fielder, The Rehearsal
Seth Rogen, The Studio
Ayo getting a directing nom is just *chef's kiss*
Best Directing for a Drama Series
Janus Metz, Andor
Amanda Marsalis, The Pitt
John Wells, The Pitt
Jessica Lee Gagné, Severance
Ben Stiller, Severance
Adam Randall, Slow Horses
Mike White, The White Lotus
Best Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Philip Barantini, Adolescence
Shannon Murphy, Dying for Sex
Helen Shaver, The Penguin
Jennifer Getzinger, The Penguin
Nicole Kassell, Sirens
Lesli Linka Glatter, Zero Day
No acting nominations for the cast of Andor bums me out.
