The artist formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards re-named themselves as the Actor Awards and announced their nominations today! Below is a list of the nominations, followed by my thoughts. The nominee list is curtesy of  Next Best Picture

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A CAST IN A MOTION PICTURE

One Battle After Another
Sinners
On paper I should love these, but because of SAG's stupid rules, I don't think the child actors in Hamnet even qualify, which is a damn shame considering how strong their performances were. Still, I like these. I would've like Wake Up Dead Man or Sentimental Value more than others, but I'm fine with them.

Jessie Buckley – Hamnet
Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue

I WEEP for Amanda Seyfried in The Testament of Ann Lee. You can't tell me Kate Hudson is better than her.

This is fun! I love Plemons getting in there. His work in Bugonia was great. I wish Wagner Moura could've found his way in though. 

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A MALE ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Miles Caton – Sinners
Benicio del Toro – One Battle After Another
Jacob Elordi – Frankenstein
Paul Mescal – Hamnet
Sean Penn – One Battle After Another
Miles Caton!! I love that he got nominated here. My no guts no glory pick was Jacobi Jupe for Hamnet, but I knew that was a stretch. 

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A FEMALE ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Odessa A’zion – Marty Supreme
Ariana Grande – Wicked: For Good
Amy Madigan – Weapons
Wunmi Mosaku – Sinners
Teyana Taylor – One Battle After Another
I'm so happy Wunmi, Madigan and Teyana are here! Those are the three I'm going the hardest for. Odessa is a surprise. She was great in Marty Supreme, but I wonder if she's benefiting by that alphabetical order conspiracy? Ariana is still a lead.

Criminal Andor isn't here. I knew it was a long shot, but I wish Alien: Earth was here too. I had wondered if Stranger Things would get an ensemble send off from SAGs, but I guess not.

Billy Crudup – The Morning Show
Walton Goggins – The White Lotus

What is the obsession with Billy Crudup in The Morning Show? I don't get it. Adam Scott missing for Severance  and Diego Luna missing for Andor is insane.

I'm so happy for Aimee Lou. I really need to start both The Diplomat and Pluribus.

I actually think Hahn, who I normally love, was really over the top in The Studio. I wish some of the Abbott ladies had gotten in.

Jason Bateman – Black Rabbit
Owen Cooper – Adolescence
Stephen Graham- Adolescence
Charlie Hunnam – Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Matthew Rhys – The Beast In Me
It's a shame Cooper and Graham have to face off now because Actor Awards don't have Supporting in TV for some dumb reason.

Claire Danes – The Beast In Me
Erin Doherty – Adolescence
Sarah Snook – All Her Fault

Michelle Williams – Dying For Sex
All Her Fault is another I need to watch. Doherty is my favorite here.

    I really hope that embodiment of mediocrity that is Kate Hudson doesn't win shit. I can't stand her as she's been really annoying these past few years.

Recently, I was talking to someone about who I thought were the best child actors when I was also a child.  Two that really stood out to me were Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazello, and one film those two were in together was called Radio Flyer.  Then I was reminded about the uniqueness of this film. Instead of reviewing the film, I wanted to have an open discussion about the ending. It deals with a tough issue; child abuse. What I’ve noticed is the way that the film ends is interpreted many different ways, and the filmmakers never came forward to say what was right and wrong. Earlier this week I made a post where I ran through the letters of the alphabet with my favorite movie titles. There were a few people that suggested I turn it into a blogathon, and I've never done that before. So here goes nothing! Since this is my first attempt at a blogathon, it's all pretty simple, and it's hopefully a quick post that everyone can join in. Review: The Ugly Stepsister

Official synopsis : Follows Elvira (Lea Myren) as she battles against her gorgeous stepsister, Agnes (Thea Sofie Loch Næss)  in a realm where beauty reigns supreme. She resorts to extreme measures to captivate the prince ( Isac Calmroth)  , amidst a ruthless competition for physical perfection. It's no coincidence that some of the best body horror films are ones that are about the ridiculous beauty standards placed upon women. "Beauty is pain" after all. The two go hand in hand.  Here, first time director Emilie Blichfeldt takes a classic fairy tale that we all know and dials it up to eleven. Prepare to cringe. Poor Elvira goes to serious lengths to be deemed "beautiful." Nevermind that Elvira IS already beautiful, but she has *gasp* braces and a bump in her nose.
