2025 Golden Globe Predictions

We're a week away from the Golden Globes! I'll be traveling back home next Sunday so I'm hoping I get home and settled in before the ceremony starts. Below are my predictions on who I think will win, and in some cases, should win.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Frankenstein
Hamnet
It Was Just an Accident
The Secret Agent
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Who will and should win: Sinners
The only film that could even slightly challenge One Battle After Another for Best Picture at this point is Sinners, so I see it taking the prize. It's also the strongest movie of all the nominees, in my opinion.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Blue Moon
Bugonia
Marty Supreme
No Other Choice
Nouvelle Vague
One Battle After Another
Who will and should win: One Battle After Another
I would be shocked if something else one. Truly shocked. While I think Marty Supreme is right up there with it, One Battle is a better film overall. I can't speak for No Other Choice or Blue Moon, the only two from this I haven't seen, but I still feel pretty confident saying its the strongest.

BEST DIRECTOR, MOTION PICTURE
Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another
Ryan Coogler – Sinners
Guillermo del Toro – Frankenstein
Jafar Panahi – It Was Just an Accident
Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value
Chloe Zhao – Hamnet
Who will win: Paul Thomas Anderson
Who should win: Chloe Zhao or Ryan Coogler.
Look, I always want women winning. I think PTA did a great job, but Zhao or Coogler would be a more existing win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Jessie Buckley – Hamnet
Jennifer Lawrence – Die, My Love
Renate Reinsve – Sentimental Value
Julia Roberts – After the Hunt
Tessa Thompson – Hedda
Eva Victor – Sorry, Baby
Who will and should win: Jessie Buckley
This category is stacked, I've seen all 6 films, but Buckely is the clear winner. She had the most emotional journey.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
Cynthia Erivo – Wicked: For Good
Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue
Chase Infiniti – One Battle After Another
Amanda Seyfried – The Testament of Ann Lee
Emma Stone – Bugonia
Who will win: Rose Byrne
Who should win: Amanda Seyfried
Rose Byrne is amazing in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, but Amanda had to act her ass off, sing AND dance, so for me she's the better all around performance. Still, I'll be happy when Byrne does win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Emily Blunt – The Smashing Machine
Elle Fanning – Sentimental Value
Ariana Grande – Wicked: For Good
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas – Sentimental Value
Amy Madigan – Weapons
Teyana Taylor – One Battle After Another
Who will win: Teyana Taylor
Who should win: Taylor, Madigan or Lilleaas.
I'm a bit torn here. Old Globes would definitely gone with Grande, and I'm so close to putting her here, but it's such clear category fraud. I truly don't know what this is going to do because Critics wins don't always correlate here.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Joel Edgerton – Train Dreams
Oscar Isaac – Frankenstein
Dwayne Johnson – The Smashing Machine
Michael B. Jordan – Sinners
Wagner Moura – The Secret Agent
Jeremy Allen White – Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
Who will and should win: Michael B. Jordan
Moura, Edgerton, and Isaac were great in their films, but Jordan is the top pick for me. I think he takes it.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Lee Byung-hun – No Other Choice
Timothee Chalamet – Marty Supreme
George Clooney – Jay Kelly
Leonardo DiCaprio – One Battle After Another
Ethan Hawke – Blue Moon
Jesse Plemons – Bugonia
Who will and should win: Timothee Chalamet
Fuck it, I'm not confident but I'm going all in for Timmy

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Benicio Del Toro – One Battle After Another
Jacob Elordi – Frankenstein
Paul Mescal – Hamnet
Sean Penn – One Battle After Another
Adam Sandler – Jay Kelly
Stellan Skarsg̴rd РSentimental Value
Who will win: Benicio del Toro
Who should win; Stellan Skarsgard
I love Benicio's performance but he already has an Oscar and I want Stellan to have one. Right now I think he's got the momentum in his corner.

BEST SCREENPLAY, MOTION PICTURE
Hamnet
It Was Just an Accident
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Who will win: One Battle After Another
Who should win: Honestly, all of these are great.
Because I think One Battle is winning one of the Best Picture categories, it will probably win here too. Though if they wanted to go outside of the box, they could give it to It Was Just An Accident.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, MOTION PICTURE
F1: The Movie
Frankenstein
Hamnet
One Battle After Another
Sinners
Sirat
Who will and should win: Sinners
I'll scream otherwise.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG, MOTION PICTURE
Avatar: Fire and Ash – “Dream as One”
K-Pop Demon Hunters – “Golden”
Sinners – “I Lied to You”
Train Dreams – “Train Dreams”
Wicked: For Good – “No Place Life Home”
Wicked: For Good – “The Girl in the Bubble”
Who will win: Golden
Who should win: That or I Lied To You
I think both of these songs are great, and Golden is HUGE, but I've been listening to the Sinners soundtrack so much lately that I'm gravitating towards I Lied To You

BEST MOTION PICTURE, ANIMATED
Arco
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie
Elio
K-Pop Demon Hunters
Little Amelie or the Character of Rain
Zootopia 2
Who will win: K-Pop Demon Hunters
Who should win: Zootopia 2 or Little Amelie
I'll be happy for K-Pop, because it is fun, but I just far preferred Zootopia 2 and Little Amelie.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, FOREIGN LANGUAGE
It Was Just an Accident
No Other Choice
The Secret Agent
Sentimental Value
Sirat
The Voice of Hind Rajab
Who will win: The Secret Agent
Who should win: Sentimental Value or It Was Just An Accident
The Secret Agent has been picking up a lot of steam lately. It literally just won a Critic's Choice award a few minutes ago, so I have a feeling it might repeat here even though I think the other two are better films.

GOLDEN GLOBE FOR CINEMATIC & BOX OFFICE ACHIEVEMENT
Avatar: Fire and Ash
F1: The Movie
KPop Demon Hunters
Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning
Sinners
Weapons
Wicked: For Good
Zootopia 2
Who will win: Avatar: Fire & Ash
Who should win: Weapons
They gotta give Big Jim something. Guess it's in the Clown category this year.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
The Diplomat
The Pitt
Pluribus
Severance
Slow Horses
The White Lotus
Who will win: The Pitt
Who should win: Severance
I think Severance has a lost a lot of steam to The Pitt over the year. Plus The Pitt was probably on voters minds more since the new reason starts sooner than Severance's next season does.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
Hacks
Nobody Wants This
Only Murders in the Building
The Studio
The Chair Company
Who will and should win: The Studio
I do prefer Hacks and Abbott, but they're on multiple seasons of doing the same thing (which is fine, it still works) The Studio is the new and shiny thing, and I think more voters will go for this over The Chair Company, the other Freshman series.

BEST LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Adolescence
All Her Fault
The Beast in Me
Black Mirror
Dying for Sex
The Girlfriend
Who will and should win: Adolescence.
This is hopefully going to win a lot.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Kathy Bates – Matlock
Britt Lower – Severance
Helen Mirren – Mob Land
Bella Ramsey – The Last of Us
Kerri Russell – The Diplomat
Rhea Seehorn – Pluribus
Who will and should win: Britt Lower
I'm not super confident here as Pluribus is getting a lot of buzz, and Bathes, Mirren, and Russell are previous winners, but I think Severance has to pick up something and here is the most likely spot.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Kristen Bell – Nobody Wants This
Ayo Edebiri – The Bear
Selena Gomez – Only Murders in the Building
Natasha Leone – Poker Face
Jenna Ortega – Wednesday
Jean Smart – Hacks
Who will and should win: Jean Smart
I wish Ayo could win this, but It's going to be Jean again, I think.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Claire Danes – The Beast in Me
Rashida Jones – Black Mirror
Amanda Seyfried – Long Bright River
Sarah Snook – All Her Fault
Michelle Williams – Dying for Sex
Robin Wright – The Girlfiend
Who will win: Michelle Williams
Who should win: Rashida Jones
I've only seen Black Mirror and Long Bright River here so it's hard to say, but I can see Williams winning. Just a hunch.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Carrie Coon – The White Lotus
Erin Doherty – Adolescence
Hannah Einbinder – Hacks
Catherine O’Hara – The Studio
Parker Posey – The White Lotus
Amy Lou Wood – The White Lotus
I love every single performance in this category.
Who will and should win: Hannah Einbinder
In a perfect world we wouldn't have Doherty and Einbinder going to head to head, but I think Hannah has the slight edge. I do see a world where Catherine O'Hara wins too though.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Sterling K. Brown – Paradise
Diego Luna – Andor
Gary Oldman – Slow Horses
Mark Ruffalo – Task
Adam Scott – Severance
Noah Wyle – The Pitt
Who will win: Noah Wyle
Who should win: Diego Luna
I'm still bitter about Andor missing out on Best Drama Series.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Adam Brody – Nobody Wants This
Steve Martin – Only Murders in the Building
Glen Powell – Chad Powers
Seth Rogen – The Studio
Martin Short – Only Murders in the Building
Jeremy Allen White – The Bear
Who will and should win: Seth Rogan
He's repeating that Emmy win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Jacob Elordi – The Narrow Road to the Deep North
Paul Giamatti – Black Mirror
Stephen Graham – Adolescence
Charlie Hunnam – Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Jude Law – Black Rabbit
Matthew Rhys – The Beast in Me
Who will and should win: Stephen Graham
Like I said earlier, Adolescence has to win multiple awards.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Owen Cooper – Adolescence
Billy Crudup – The Morning Show
Walton Goggins – The White Lotus
Jason Isaac – The White Lotus
Tramell Tillman – Severance
Ashley Walters – Adolescence
Who will win: Owen Cooper
Who should win: Cooper or Tramell
I hate having to pick between them. but I think Cooper has the edge. Plus I love it when kids win. I just hope they don't give it to Billy Crudup because that wouldn't surprise me.

BEST PERFORMANCE IN A STAND-UP COMEDY ON TELEVISION
Bill Mahr – Is Anyone Else Seeing This?
Brett Goldstein – The Second Best Night of Your Life
Kevin Hart – Acting My Age
Kumail Nanjiani – Night Thoughts
Ricky Gervais – Mortality
Sarah Silverman – PostMortem
Who will win: Ricky Gervais
Who should win:?
I haven't seen any of these so I'm going with Gervais as a previous Globes host.

BEST PODCAST
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
Call Her Daddy
Good Hang with Amy Poehler
The Mel Robbins Podcast
SmartLess
Up First
Who will win: Amy Poehler
Who should win: ?
Again, I don't listen to any of these so I'm going with Amy as a previous Globes host. I really cannot make myself care about this category.

  1. I don't give a fuck about these Box Office Achievement, Stand-Up, or the Podcast awards.
