What I Watched on TV in April

Welcome back to me still trying to figure out how I want to talk about TV on my blog. It's been a BUSY TV month. I only made it to the theater three times (Solid films all around though) and the rest of my movie watching has been on airplane seat backs as April was another busy travel month. But I watched a ton of TV and have so many thoughts.

The Pitt (Season 2) - The season is officially finished. I don't think it wrapped up as neatly as season 1 did, but I won't lie and say I wasn't glued to my TV every Thursday waiting to see what happens next. I am worried that Robby "getting close to hitting rock bottom" will be a bit overbearing if they keep going that route in season 3. There's only so many times Noah Wyle can stare sadly at the screen before he turns into an Elizabeth Moss Handmaid's Tale staring parody. I'm sad a talent like Supriya Ganesh is leaving. I get it's a "teaching hospital" and makes sense characters would leave, but we all have favorites and I think the creators of this show are being very weird about the fans reaction to it. Of course people are going to be disappointed. What did you think would happen?

Shrinking -
Last month I mentioned I started this, and I watched all three seasons in a week. I'm going HARD for this show now. It's not perfect, there are some convivences that I think are pretty far fetched, but it's so funny and I just love the cast. I can see how S3 might be it's last, but I hope they do another just so I can experience it in real time. And I hope they pick up some Emmys this year.

Slow Horses - I finished season one and I thought this was fine. I think it's a bit silly Jack Lowden is somehow considered supporting when he's clearly the lead when it comes to award seasons, but whatever. I'm currently giving season 2 a try. Don't love it, but there's potential.

The Testaments -
It's nice to have Chase Infiniti and Anne Dowd back on my screen. I've been enjoying this so far. All the actors playing the plums are very good. I like the change they made with the character of Daisy too. I felt like the "big reveal" of who her character in the books was kind of depressing and makes you rethink a lot of what you saw in the Handmaid's Tale series, so I'm glad they scrapped that. I know people have issues with it, but I'm not one of them.

Hacks - This season has really come back swinging in these first couple of episodes. I don't think I've ever laughed at something as mundane as a diet coke plushie so hard in my life.

Euphoria -
I have so many problems with this show, and YET...I watch. Episode 3 is the last one to have aired as I type this. This show really dropped the ball with Nate and Jules' story. Schaefer and Elordi have excellent chemistry together and I really wish we could've seen their characters interact more. Definitely not as a couple, but they should've given us something. Their 2 minute scene at the wedding was probably the best one in the episode. I also have to once again express my disappointment with who Sydney Sweeney has become. She was so over the top hysterical in her last scene in this episode that it made me almost want to root for her until I remember she turned into MAGA Barbie. Honestly girl, you fumbled it. I have to give a huge shoutout to Zendaya for continuing to give it her all. She could've so easily checked out since the writing this season is atrocious, but she doesn't because she's a pro.

Paradise - I don't think I'm going to finish this even with Sterling K Brown being as amazing as he is. I expected one of the two central mysteries of the show to grab me and neither has 4 episodes in.

Half Man -
Someone give Richard Gadd a hug! I'm pretty excited for this to be my new Thursday Night TV show, even though I expect its going to continue to be very heavy. Gadd as a creator is just fascinating so I'll watch anything he does. I do think the two lads that are playing the younger versions of his and Jamie Bell's characters look way too old to be in high school, but I'm sure there's going to be a a time jump so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Coming up in May: Aside from the ongoing shows I've already talked about, I've got a lot of Abbott Elementary to catch up on too.

What are you watching?
