Series Review: Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil coming to Disney Plus was always a big deal for myself, and a lot of other Marvel fans. It was the best of the Netflix MCU shows (in my opinion) and finding out that it would be brought into MCU proper was a great feeling. So how did season 1 do overall? Let's look at the good, the bad, and what we can look forward to.

The Good
* Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio continue to put in great work as Matt Murdoch and Wilson Fisk. There's a really great scene in the later episodes where both characters are coming to terms with their alter-egos separately, and the scene cuts back and forth between them. 
* The fight scenes continue to be top notch.
* It was nice to get an episode that focused solely on Matt Murdoch being a lawyer.
* It still felt very adult. I know there was a lot of worry of it "losing its edge" moving over to Disney Plus, but there was plenty of brutality and a few F bombs. See? What were you worrying about?
* The Punisher telling cops who wear his symbol what absolute dickheads they are was *chef's kiss*

The Bad
* They choose to kill off one of the legacy characters from the original show and it just does not work. They could've easily kept both of those characters and just used them for background. It was a death I never got over throughout the season and if I would've had to choose between the "two" I would've picked the other one to go.
* The reshoots were evident. It's no secret that there was issues with this production and they had to change quite a bit, and it kind of shows. It's very uneven overall.
* That Miss Marvel tie in was really corny and should've been dialed down a bit. 
* The finale was very lackluster.

Looking Ahead
* I'm glad season 2 is already being filmed because it gives me home that they can get past some of the bumps they had this season. There was a lot of good there, it was just wildly uneven overall.
* There were rumors all year about THAT character's death being a fake out, and please for the love of God let that be true, it would earn back some points with me.
* Also, I hope they bring in Elektra and The Defenders at some point. The certainly set it up.

    I still haven't seen the original series which is why I've been hesitant to watch this though I did watch the clip of Murdock with Mr. Khan as I liked that bit. Then again, I'm a fan of Miss Marvel.

      I wanted to like Miss Marvel so badly but it just did not work for me. I would've rather had another She-Hulk tie in personally.

      I'm down for that. She-Hulk got a lot of hate from people and still do. Obviously, they never saw Secret Invasion.

Recently, I was talking to someone about who I thought were the best child actors when I was also a child.  Two that really stood out to me were Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazello, and one film those two were in together was called Radio Flyer.  Then I was reminded about the uniqueness of this film. Review: Armand

Official Synopsis : Armand, a 6-year-old boy, is accused of crossing boundaries against his best friend at elementary school. His mother, Elisabeth (Renate Reinsve) is called to his school to discuss an action plan. This is Norway's submission to the 2025 Oscars for Best International Feature and I've been itching to see what else Reinsve can do after her excellent performance in The Worst Person in The World . Turns out, she can do anything. I think she's even better here.  I have to acknowledge the elephant in the room (in the blog?) This is going to get A LOT of comparisons to Germany's The Teachers' Lounge and while those are not completely unwarranted - this is another film set entirely in a school where a crime may have been committed - Armand takes a very different look at its subjects and how it plays out.  The way this is shot is very captivating. Starting around 2018, I started watching Youtube for more than just movie trailers or music videos whenever a new one dropped. Now I'm in full blown subscription mode and don't bat an eyelash at watching a Youtube video that's over an hour long. I watch Youtube for a few different categories of content, but one of them that I love most is movie/TV essays and commentary, and that's what I'm going to talk about today.
