2014 Emmys: Who will win, who should win.

It's Emmy weekend! Here are my predictions. Normally, I find the Emmys to be fairly easy to predict, but last year they had so many surprises that I don't even know what to expect this year. I'm probably going to be wrong. I didn't include all of the categories in this post. Just acting ones.

Outstanding Drama Series
"Breaking Bad"
"Downton Abbey"
"Game of Thrones"
"House of Cards"
"Mad Men"
"True Detective"
Who will and should win: Breaking Bad. This game changing series deserves to go out on top, and I think it will do just that.

Outstanding Comedy Series
"The Big Bang Theory"
"Louie"
"Modern Family"
"Orange is the New Black"
"Silicon Valley"
"Veep"
Who will win: Modern Family. Unless Emmy voters decide to change and give it to OTTNB.
Who should win: Veep. It's the funniest show on TV right now, IMO.

Outstanding Miniseries
"American Horror Story Coven"
"Bonnie & Clyde"
"Fargo"
"Luther"
"Treme"
"The White Queen"
Who will and should win: Fargo

Outstanding TV Movie

Claire Danes - "Homeland"
Michelle Dockery - "Downton Abbey"
Julianna Marguilles - "The Good Wife"
Kerry Washington - "Scandal"
Robin Wright - "House of Cards"

I don't watch any of these shows so I have no idea who actually should win. Lizzy Caplan because she's Janis Ian?

Edie Falco - "Nurse Jackie"
Julie Louis-Dreyfus - "Veep"
Melissa McCarthy - "Mike and Molly"
Amy Poehler - "Parks and Recreation"
Taylor Schilling - "Orange is the New Black"
Who will and should win: Julie Louis-Dreyfus. Taylor Schilling is a dark horse though. I'm not sure if the Emmys love OITNB as much as the general public does.

Andre Braugher - "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"
Adam Driver - "Girls"
Jesse Tyler Ferguson - "Modern Family"
Ty Burrell - "Modern Family"

Mayim Bialik - "The Big Bang Theory"
Julie Bowen - "Modern Family"
Allison Janney - "Mom"
Kate Mulgrew - "Orange is the New Black"
Kate McKinnon - "Saturday Night Live"

Chiwetel Ejiofior - "Dancing on the Edge"

Kathy Bates - "American Horror Story: Coven"
Angela Basset - "American Horror Story: Coven"

  1. Oh I'm really rooting for Angela Basset, I really didn't like the main girl in Fargo, what is she even doing in supporting category? I'm probably gonna watch the ceremony the next day for Matthew but I'm still pissed off after their ridiculous GoT noms last year. I think True Detective and Orange is...may actually win the big ones, everyone is talking about these two shows while BrBa feels like it ended a long time ago.

    1. I'm not too sure on how Emmys will receive OITNB since this is their first year being eligible. (I do think it's a little weird that it's in the comedy category) BrBa does feel like awhile ago, but I refuse to let go, damn it!

  2. I'm with Sati -- feels like BrBa ended a lifetime ago! I don't watch most of these shows, so I can't really say much more. Really rooting for Shameless, though, even if it's only Bill Macy who's nominated.

    1. I had to laugh at Shameless switching to the comedy category this year. Apparently that move worked! They have a nomination now.

  3. I've only seen House of Cards, True Detective and Sherlock, so I'm rooting for them. Eventually, I'm going to binge watch Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, though. :)

  4. The Comedy categories are so unpredictable! It should be a lot of fun to watch. My bet is that Louis C.K. takes home best actor, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins best actress. The other three comedy categories could truly go to anyone!

    Great post!

  5. Great work. I would love if Wright won, and if True Detective took home some wins. Looking forward to the show!
