Thursday Movie Picks - TV Edition: Prequels

This week's TV theme from Wandering Through Shelves is prequels. I'm actually a bit excited this week because I get to gush about one of my favorite animated shows. The other is a popular show airing now, and the 3rd is something from my childhood that I probably should've left there.

1) Star Wars Rebels

The first season of this show is a little rough because it is geared towards younger kids, which I obviously am not, but this show gets SO good. Hera and Kanan in particular are some of my favorite characters in the Star Wars canon. (and they are also the best ship...sorry Han/Leia) I've been re-watching random episodes of this lately and it's just so good. Highly recommend.

2) Better Call Saul

As much as I love Breaking Bad, I was always iffy on this as a prequel idea but it turned out to be wonderful. I'm excited for its final season. Excited and scared..Kim has been so dumb lately and I hate seeing it happen.

3) Muppet Babies

I randomly get this theme song stuck in my head to this day. This show was so dumb, but it was always on Nick Junior so I watched it. I don't even want to attempt to pull up an old episode on youtube. I'll probably cringe into oblivion.

  1. I have to admit, I don’t like this theme this week because I lack seeing almost all prequels. I have not seen any of these but I might give Better Call Saul. Try

  5. Once again I'm 0 for 3 on these though I've heard of them all. Well perhaps not entirely zero, I've seen one or two Muppet Babies when I was babysitting one kid or another but I wouldn't say I was paying much attention.

I'm sitting the week out since I'm not much of a series TV watcher, at least not current shows. The best I can do is a few episodes of Smallville but even there I wasn't a consistent viewer.

    1. Smallville hung on for a long time, that was a shot I never got into. I don't think I've ever watched a CW show.

  6. Better Call Saul was a very nice surprise for me too as I didn't think it could measure up to BB. The only problem is that we have currently lost our place in the series!

    1. The latest season was really good, even though Kim's character is going down a terrible spiral.

  8. Aw, Muppet Babies, that's such a good one. My four year old niece has recently discovered it so it's been fun seeing it again through her eyes.
There's actually a new Muppet show on Disney+ that I watched last night - weird see them reflect a new culture in Zoom meetings and Youtube videos.

  9. Glad this week was exciting for one of us! :D I had to... bluff my way through this week. Super disappointed in myself but apparently I don't watch prequels that much... or at all. :D

    1. lol I've had those weeks too. Pretty much every time there's a foreign language TV show week I have to reach for the stars.

  10. Not much for animated stuff, so haven't seen Star Wars Rebels. Also haven't really watched Breaking Bad except for a couple of episodes here and there, so can't get into Better Call Saul.

    1. Aww, that's too bad, but yeah if you don't like BrBa, then I can't see anyone preferring Saul over it.
