Thursday Movie Picks - TV Edition: Horror
Happy Halloween! Our final festive theme at Wandering Through The Shelves is horror on the small screen. The only rule I gave myself is that I wouldn't use the TV shows I picked last year and thankfully there's still some great things out there.
1) The Haunting of Hill House
This was an excellent mini series last year that I binged quite quickly. It even managed to get me with a jump scare.
2) Stranger Things
While season 3 moved away from it's normal Halloween setting and instead happened during the 4th of July, it only made it slightly less creepy.
3) Black Mirror
While this show as a whole isn't specifically horror themed. You can't argue with the fact that most of the episodes are literal horror movies. Whether you're being chased by robots, put in a scary video game simulator, or being blacked mailed into fucking a pig on national television.

I cannot wait for next season of The Haunting, hopefully it will be just as good as the first. That bent neck lady twist was one of the most original and greatest twists I've ever seen
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize it was being turned into an anthology (or I just forgot) so I'm now looking forward to it too.
DeleteHappy Halloween! I've heard of all three of these and seen exactly zero. And honestly I never will watch any of them.
ReplyDeleteThe only horror show I purposely watched that I can remember is American Horror Story and that was more for the performers and even with them it was frequently too gory for me and I didn't stick with it. So I'm skipping this week again.
I thought you might have been into Munsters or Addams family. Not "horror" per say, but spooky enough.
DeleteI will 100% recommend Black Mirror though, it's not all horror but it's an amazing anthology and I think everyone should watch it.
I have not seen any of these but one day I might see the first 2 as I am not much into beastiality..just saying:) Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeletelol to be fair, it's only the one Black Mirror episode that does that. The rest are very different.
DeleteI haven't seen any of these shows though I did see some clips of the third seasons of Stranger Things as some of it was scary and some of it was funny. Especially the usage of "The NeverEnding Story" as that was one of those WTF moments in a good way.
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard when they did that. I know a fair amount of people hated it, but it was so random.
DeleteHill House was SO GOOD. I can't wait to see what they do with the second season. I can't believe I didn't think about putting Black Mirror on my list! What a solid choice.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly obsessed with Black Mirror. I've re-watched so many episodes lol.
DeleteBlack Mirror is definitely horror...tech horror.
ReplyDeleteStranger Things is just an ok watch for me, I just don't love it like everyone else seem to.
I get it. It's not for everyone
