2022 Emmy Nominations
OUTSTANDING DRAMA
Better Call Saul
Euphoria
Ozark
Severance
Squid Game
Stranger Things (Season 4, Volume 1)
Succession
Yellowjackets
This is a great line up, though I do need to see Severance and Yellowjackets.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Jodie Comer, Killing Eve
Laura Linney, Ozark
Melanie Lynskey, Yellowjackets
Sandra Oh, Killing Eve
Reese Witherspoon, The Morning Show
Zendaya, Euphoria
Reese Witherspoon getting a nomination here is laughable. I refuse to believe there wasn't someone else worthy here. I'm happy for Melanie Lynskey because I love her and it's nice to see Zendaya back here.
LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Jason Bateman, Ozark
Brian Cox, Succession
Lee Jung-jae, Squid Game
Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul
Adam Scott, Severance
Jeremy Strong, Succession
I love all of these men...Batemen's kind of a jerk but the rest, *chef's kiss*
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Patricia Arquette, Severance
Julia Garner, Ozark
Jung Ho-yeon, Squid Game
Christina Ricci, Yellowjackets
Rhea Seehorn, Better Call Saul
J. Smith-Cameron, Succession
Sarah Snook, Succession
Sydney Sweeney, Euphoria
Someone finally through Rhea Seehorn a fucking bone for Better Call Saul. She should be on her 4th nomination at least by now. I'm glad J. Smith-Cameron got some of that Succession love as well. But my favorite nomination after Rhea, Sydney Sweeney! She deserves it so much for this scene alone:
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Nicholas Braun, Succession
Billy Crudup, The Morning Show
Kieran Culkin, Succession
Park Hae-soo, Squid Game
Matthew Macfadyen, Succession
John Turturro, Severance
Christopher Walken, Severance
Oh Yeong-su, Squid Game
Nicholas Braun, Succession
Billy Crudup, The Morning Show
Kieran Culkin, Succession
Park Hae-soo, Squid Game
Matthew Macfadyen, Succession
John Turturro, Severance
Christopher Walken, Severance
Oh Yeong-su, Squid Game
The Morning Show should not be here at all. I mean, if they were only going to watch 3 shows, they could've picked someone else.
GUEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Hope Davis, Succession
Marcia Gay Harden, The Morning Show
Martha Kelly, Euphoria
Sanaa Lathan, Succession
Harriet Walter, Succession
Lee Yoo-mi, Squid Game
Martha Kelly was legit scary in Euphoria, I'm glad to see her here. Lee Yoo-mi getting in for Squid Game is a fun surprise. I'm happy this show got so much love.
GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Adrien Brody, Succession
James Cromwell, Succession
Colman Domingo, Euphoria
Arian Moayed, Succession
Tom Pelphrey, Ozark
Alexander Skarsgard, Succession
Colman Domingo is my favorite here. Skarsgard was good in Succession but the other nominees were not very memorable for me.
OUTSTANDING COMEDY
Abbott Elementary
Barry
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Hacks
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Only Murders in the Building
Ted Lasso
What We Do in the Shadows
I really need to watch Abbott Elementary, I've heard so many good things. I'm overjoyed for Ted Lasso and What We Do in the Shadows!
LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Kaley Cuoco, The Flight Attendant
Elle Fanning, The Great
Issa Rae, Insecure
Jean Smart, Hacks
I'm so happy Issa is getting nominated for her final season. It's nice to see Elle crack the line up as well.
LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Donald Glover, Atlanta
Bill Hader, Barry
Nicholas Hoult, The Great
Steve Martin, Only Murders in the Building
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso
I love Bill Hader, but his best moments in Barry were the dramatic ones. Sudeikis is still my favorite.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Alex Borstein, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Hannah Einbinder, Hacks
Janelle James, Abbott Elementary
Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live
Sarah Niles, Ted Lasso
Sheryl Lee Ralph, Abbott Elementary
Juno Temple, Ted Lasso
Hannah Waddingham, Ted Lasso
I'm really surprised Sarah Goldburg isn't in here for Barry (even though like Hader, her best moments were dramatic) Sarah Niles getting nominated for Ted Lasso is awesome.
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Anthony Carrigan, Barry
Brett Goldstein, Ted Lasso
Toheeb Jimoh, Ted Lasso
Nick Mohammed, Ted Lasso
Tony Shalhoub, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Tyler James Williams, Abbott Elementary
Henry Winkler, Barry
Bowen Yang, Saturday Night Live
I love to see the beautiful Toheeb Jimoh get his first nomination! Glad to see Carrigan back too, NoHo Hank is my favorite character in Barry.
GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Jane Adams, Hacks
Harriet Sansom Harris, Hacks
Jane Lynch, Only Murders in the Building
Laurie Metcalf, Hacks
Kaitlin Olson, Hacks
Harriet Walter, Ted Lasso
I've only watched the first few episodes of Hacks' second season so I feel very lost.
GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Jerrod Carmichael, Saturday Night Live
Bill Hader, Curb Your Enthusiasm
James Lance, Ted Lasso
Nathan Lane, Only Murders in the Building
Christopher McDonald, Hacks
Sam Richardson, Ted Lasso
The two Ted Lasso nominations crack me up, especially Sam Richardson. I laughed so hard in his episode.
OUTSTANDING LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES
Dopesick
The Dropout
Inventing Anna
Pam & Tommy
The White Lotus
I don't see why this category gets stuck at 5 when Drama and Comedy get to go over. I definitely would've added Under the Banner of Heaven and The Staircase here.
OUTSTANDING MADE-FOR-TELEVISION MOVIE
Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers
Ray Donovan: The Movie
Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon
The Survivor
Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas
Hulu campaigned Fresh at the Emmys and didn't get a nomination. Ridiculous.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR MOVIE
Toni Collette, The Staircase
Julia Garner, Inventing Anna
Lily James, Pam & Tommy
Sarah Paulson, Impeachment: American Crime Story
Margaret Qually, Maid
Amanda Seyfried, The Dropout
This category is stacked, though I'm shocked Jessica Chastain didn't get in for Scenes from a Marriage when her costar did. I also thought Beanie would get way more attention for American Crime Story, but the Emmys love them some Sarah Paulson, I guess.
LEAD ACTOR IN A LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR MOVIE
Colin Firth, The Staircase
Andrew Garfield, Under the Banner of Heaven
Oscar Isaac, Scenes From a Marriage
Michael Keaton, Dopesick
Himesh Patel, Station Eleven
Sebastian Stan, Pam & Tommy
This is another category I absolutely love. All these performances are great. (even if Station Eleven was not) Hamish Linklater was snubbed for Midnight Mass though. I can't believe that got jack.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR MOVIE
Connie Britton, The White Lotus
Jennifer Coolidge, The White Lotus
Alexandra Daddario, The White Lotus
Kaitlyn Dever, Dopesick
Natasha Rothwell, The White Lotus
Sydney Sweeney, The White Lotus
Mare Winningham, Dopesick
Are you fucking kidding me, Emmys? LOOK AT ALL THIS WHITE LOTUS. Yes, it was a great show, but seriously? Daisy Edgar Jones in Under the Banner of Heaven could've replaced someone. Maybe some of the vast supporting performances in The Staircase? Midnight Mass?
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR MOVIE
Murray Bartlett, The White Lotus
Jake Lacy, The White Lotus
Will Poulter, Dopesick
Seth Rogen, Pam & Tommy
Peter Sarsgaard, Dopesick
Michael Stuhlbarg, Dopesick
Steve Zahn, The White Lotus
Again, they barely watched any mini series. Under The Banner of Heaven should absolutely have had a bigger show here. I'm happy for Poulter, Sarsgaard and Stuhlbarg, but come on.
OUTSTANDING VARIETY SKETCH SERIES
A Black Lady Sketch Show
Saturday Night Live
OUTSTANDING VARIETY TALK SERIES
The Daily Show With Trevor Noah
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
Late Night With Seth Meyers
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
OUTSTANDING ANIMATED PROGRAM
Arcane
Bob’s Burgers
Rick and Morty
The Simpsons
What If…?
I'm really happy for Sydney and Toheeb as they earned those nods. I also read that Chadwick Boseman got a nomination for his voice work as I hope he wins. I'm glad Marvel got some technical nods as I am now hoping that Ms. Marvel gets ALL of the nominations for the next year's Emmys. I also read The Beatles: Get Back got 5 nods as I hope it wins all of them.
ReplyDeleteI heard good things about Only Murders in the Building as well as Selena Gomez's performance as I can't believe she got snubbed. She better be fucking nominated next year. I think she's getting better as an actress. I can't believe Jessica Chastain, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Beanie Feldstein got snubbed. Beanie is someone I really enjoy as I think she's a phenomenal actress. It does piss me off that she is being replaced by that racist, bitchy, disgusting Lea Michele is going to replace her as I hate her singing and I hate that she gets away with everything with her awful attitude. I'm still not over what she did to Hailee Steinfeld years ago.
Selena's only acting talent seems to be "sarcastic" from what I've seen, so I'm not shocked she didn't get nominated for acting. But She got in for producing, so good for her.
DeleteI don't think I know the Lea/Hailee story. I have to look that up. I'm bummed for those ladies as well as they were great in their shows. Really shocked about Chastain honestly. Especially coming off an Oscar win.
Well, from what I remember. It was when Hailee was doing True Grit and was filming near the set of Glee and wanted to meet Lea as a producer said sure. Knocked on Lea's trailer and Lea, as usual, was being a bitch and then screamed at Hailee, who just wanted an autograph, and made Hailee cry in front of Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. Bridges and Damon were pissed.
DeleteI just looked it up, She saw Lea walking and asked for an autograph and some guy swooped in and said now isn't a good time. So a little less dramatic, but mean nonetheless.
