2024 Golden Globe Winners

The Globes started out with the more horrendous host they've ever had. I think all but one of his jokes landed, then he started making excuses for himself on stage which just made it all worst. It was painful. I went 14/27 with my predictions. Below are the winners + my thoughts.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Anatomy Of A Fall
Killers Of The Flower Moon
Maestro
Oppenheimer
Past Lives
The Zone Of Interest
This was one of the easier ones to pick and I'm so glad it won.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Air
American Fiction
Barbie
The Holdovers
May December
Poor Things
I really thought the Globes would go hard for Barbie, but I should've known the foreign voters would resonate with Poor Things more. I still think The Holdovers and American Fiction are the two best films here, but I'm not mad about Poor Things. It's great too.

BEST DIRECTOR, MOTION PICTURE
Bradley Cooper – Maestro
Greta Gerwig – Barbie
Yorgos Lanthimos – Poor Things
Christopher Nolan – Oppenheimer
Martin Scorsese – Killers Of The Flower Moon
Celine Song – Past Lives
Nolan is so overdue at this point I'm glad he's getting his flowers for Oppenheimer. The funniest part was the cut to Bradley Cooper after who looked pretty bitter. (That may have been after Cillian's win, I can't remember, but either way. Hilarious)

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Annette Bening – Nyad
Lily Gladstone – Killers Of The Flower Moon
Sandra Huller – Anatomy Of A Fall
Greta Lee – Past Lives
Carey Mulligan – Maestro
Cailee Spaeny – Priscilla
Lily spoke a bit of Blackfoot in her speech and it was one of the best of the night. Native actors have long been overlooked and she spoke about the win not being just for her. It was lovely. I hope she continues winning.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Fantasia Barrino – The Color Purple
Jennifer Lawrence – No Hard Feelings
Natalie Portman – May December
Alma P̦ysti РFallen Leaves
Margot Robbie – Barbie
Emma Stone – Poor Things
I really thought Margot had this on lock, but again I under estimated the foreign voters. Still, Stone deserved this. Jennifer Lawrence looked so happy for her friend too, that was sweet.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Emily Blunt – Oppenheimer
Danielle Brooks – The Color Purple
Jodie Foster – Nyad
Da’Vine Joy Randolph – The Holdovers
Julianne Moore – May December
Rosamund Pike – Saltburn
I'm SO happy for Da'Vine!

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, DRAMA
Bradley Cooper – Maestro
Colman Domingo – Rustin
Leonardo DiCaprio – Killers Of The Flower Moon
Barry Keoghan – Saltburn
Cillian Murphy – Oppenheimer
Andrew Scott – All Of Us Strangers
Cillian! Sweeps are boring but I genuinely hope he sweeps all the big awards. He deserves it.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Nicolas Cage – Dream Scenario
Timothee Chalamet – Wonka
Matt Damon – Air
Paul Giamatti – The Holdovers
Joaquin Phoenix – Beau Is Afraid
Jeffrey Wright – American Fiction
Paul Giamatti's speech was so pure. The Holdovers was amazing and I will be cheering on every win it gets.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN ANY MOTION PICTURE
Willem Dafoe – Poor Things
Robert De Niro – Killers Of The Flower Moon
Robert Downey Jr. – Oppenheimer
Ryan Gosling – Barbie
Charles Melton – May December
Mark Ruffalo – Poor Things
Surprising no one, RDJ gave a great speech. He complained about proving his agent right by saying he needed to "restart his career"

BEST SCREENPLAY, MOTION PICTURE
Anatomy Of A Fall
Barbie
The Holdovers
Killers Of The Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Poor Things
This is where I actually predicted Poor Things winning and to my shock, Anatomy of a Fall took it. I'm not mad at that at all. It's a great film.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, MOTION PICTURE
The Boy And The Heron
Killers Of The Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Poor Things
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The Zone Of Interest
My boy Ludwig ends up on my Spotify wrapped every year and I should've seen him coming here. Oppenheimer's score was great, so I'm happy for him adding more gold to his collection.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG, MOTION PICTURE
“What Was I Made For?” – Barbie
“I’m Just Ken” – Barbie
“Dance The Night” – Barbie
“Road To Freedom” – Rustin
“Addicted To Romance” – She Came To Me
“Peaches” – The Super Mario Bros. Movie
I expect What Was I Made For to win the Oscars, but I thought the Globes would go for camp and pick I'm Just Ken. Should've used logic here.

BEST MOTION PICTURE, ANIMATED
The Boy And The Heron
Elemental
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Suzume
Wish
Ghibli is always a good choice, but anything winning over Spider-Verse is insane to me. Did you SEE that animation?

BEST MOTION PICTURE, FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Anatomy Of A Fall
Fallen Leaves
Io Capitano
Past Lives
Society Of The Snow
The Zone Of Interest
I thought Past Lives would be winning here, but they continued their Anatomy of a Fall love. Again, not mad about it.

GOLDEN GLOBE FOR CINEMATIC & BOX OFFICE ACHIEVEMENT
Barbie
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
John Wick: Chapter 4
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
Oppenheimer
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour
When Barbie won this, I knew it wasn't winning Best Comedy. I truly thought Taylor would win it because the Globes can be star fuckers.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
1923
The Crown
The Diplomat
The Last of Us
The Morning Show
Succession
Glad to see Succession on its victory lap. Truly deserving.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL, OR COMEDY
Abbott Elementary
Barry
The Bear
Jury Duty
Only Murders in the Building
Ted Lasso
Yes Chef! I love all The Bear love as well.

BEST LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
All The Light We Cannot See
Beef
Daisy Jones and the Six
Fargo
Fellow Travelers
Lessons in Chemistry
The HFPA clearly loved Beef, which will get no complaints from me.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Helen Mirren – 1923
Bella Ramey – The Last Of Us
Keri Russell – The Diplomat
Sarah Snook – Succession
Imelda Staunton – The Crown
Emma Stone – The Curse
Since Emma won Best Actress, my logic made me ignore the obvious choice in Snook against my better judgement. She is so good in Succession I'm glad for another win for her.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Rachel Brosnahan – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Quinta Brunson – Abbott Elementary
Ayo Edebiri – The Bear
Elle Fanning – The Great
Selena Gomez – Only Murders In The Building
Natasha Lyonne – Poker Face
Ayo should win everything. She thanked her agent's assistants for answering her emails which I thought was great.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Riley Keough – Daisy Jones and the Six
Brie Larson – Lessons in Chemistry
Elizabeth Olsen – Love And Death
Juno Temple – Fargo
Rachel Weisz – Dead Ringers
Ali Wong – Beef
Beef swept. I'm bias and wanted Lizzie to win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Elizabeth Debicki – The Crown
Abby Elliot – The Bear
Christina Ricci – Yellowjackets
J. Smith-Cameron – Succession
Meryl Streep – Only Murders in the Building
Hannah Waddingham – Ted Lasso
The Diana obsession continues. I really think Smith-Cameron should've won here.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, DRAMA
Brian Cox – Succession
Kieran Culkin – Succession
Gary Oldman – Slow Horses
Pedro Pascal – The Last of Us
Jeremy Strong – Succession
Dominic West – The Crown
I really expected the Succession guys to split votes here and for Pedro to come out on top, but it's nice that Kieran gets a win here. He was great.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Bill Hader – Barry
Steve Martin – Only Murders in the Building
Jason Segel – Shrinking
Martin Short – Only Murders in the Building
Jason Sudeikis – Ted Lasso
Jeremy Allen White – The Bear
It's been quite the week on the internet for JAW.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LIMITED SERIES, ANTHOLOGY SERIES, OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Matt Bomer – Fellow Travelers
Sam Claflin – Daisy Jones and the Six
Jon Hamm – Fargo
Woody Harrelson – White House Plumbers
David Oyelowo – Lawmen: Bass Reeves
Steven Yeun – Beef
I'm so happy Yeun won here. He's one of the best actors to come out of the shitshow that was The Walking Dead so I love to see him winning.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A TELEVISION SERIES, MUSICAL/COMEDY, OR DRAMA
Billy Crudup – The Morning Show
Matthew Macfadyen – Succession
James Marsden – Jury Duty
Ebon Moss-Bachrach – The Bear

Ricky Gervais – Ricky Gervais: Armageddon
Trevor Noah – Trevor Noah: Where Was I
Chris Rock – Chris Rock: Selective Outrage
Amy Schumer – Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact
Sarah Silverman – Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love
Wanda Sykes – Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer

  1. I didn't watch it as I had just finished cleaning my house (which I often do on Sundays) and was listening to the Solomonster Sound Off Podcast on my iTunes as I heard it was a fucking mess. I'm glad I skipped it. I bet Taylor Swift was PISSED off that she flew all the way from being at a Kansas City Chiefs game (fuck the Chiefs, go Vikings!) to then fly to the Globes for nothing. These new awards suck and it's like the more they try to change, the more it stays the same.

    1. I'm legit surprised she didn't win. I thought the award was essentially created for her lol.

  2. I taped itand my first look was seeing Da'vine getting out of her seat with those huge globesright in front with wayyy too much cleavage. You could see the beginning g of her nipple area. It was gross. And to be politically incorrect, she is not curvy but morbidly obese. She may be a really nice lady but she needs to lose weight. He'll, my husband had a nightmare that she sat on him and he couldn't breathe..I'm not kidding...hahahaaa.
Aside from that, I thought it was good. The host was fine but nothing to speak of and will not be remembered I thought Barbie was going g to win big. I so want to see Maestro but Bradley will be empty handed so he better get his acting face on. Taylor Swift needs to laugh more..boy is she uptight and she is believing all that is said about her. I'm glad she didn't win.
I lovedthe young lady who won and spoke Blackfoot. What a beautiful language.
