Thursday Movie Picks: Twins

This week's All in the Family theme from Wandering Through the Shelves is movies with Twins. I wanted to BE an Olsen Twin when I was a kid, so I probably could've made this all about those movies, even though they're the same movie just in different locations. But I refrained. Here's some films with Twins that I adore. Spoiler alert for my last two picks!

1) The Dreamers

So what if Theo and Isabelle go full Lannister? This film is actually quite beautiful and it's one of my favorites. Saying they have a unique twin bond is kind of an understatement.

2) The Prestige

The twins here may come as a shock at first, but you have to admire their dedication. That finger scene..

3) Avengers: Age of Ultron

Okay, so I had some major problems with Ultron, but I kind of love it on principle just because of the Twins. Wanda and Pietro were two characters I anticipated the most. It's a shame Whedon fucked it up in the end. Hopefully the new directors retcon him. (Yes, I'm hoping for a retcon) I'm buying the DVD just so I can watch the alternate ending where he lives.

Bonus: It Takes Two - Come on, I had to throw one Olsen Twin movie in here, and it was between this or Billboard Dad. I got one of these because of Billboard Dad:

  1. Haha full Lannister, good job!
Not really familiar with the Marvel universe, I was often bored and/or confused watching Age of Ultron and I had a lot of trouble figuring out how those twins fit in.
The Prestige is a fantastic pic though.

  2. OMG I totally forgot they were twins in The Dreamers! I LOVE that movie! I would have picked The Prestige but I can't bring myself to spoil the twist. I dunno about Ultron, though. I liked it and all, but after so goddamn many Marvel movies you could really see the formula and tasted kinda stale.

    1. I think the Prestige has been out long enough so everyone should know that twist. I'm a shameless MCU apologist, so while I had problems with Ultron, I still like it. I'll buy the DVD. Plus, I love me some Maximoff twins.

  3. Wow! We got two in common. And, similarly, that spoiler things are also in common. Well, I felt the same thing about the Maximoffs as well, but at least they live in different franchises :)

    1. I hated DofP Quicksilver, so I'm not exactly psyched that he's the only film version living right now. I'm holding out for him coming back to the MCU.

    1. Dreamers is wonderful. It's NC-17, so it might be off putting for some, but I think it's a beautiful movie.

  11. Oh, The Dreamers and The Prestige! LOVE!!!

Haha, I have two younger sisters, so I've seen most of the Olsen movies. Kinda love that Billboard Dad mention.

  12. I love The Prestige! My favourite Nolan movie, but left it out because of the spoiler.
Haven't seen The Dreamers so I didn't know the sibling characters in it were twins.
