2022 Screen Actors Guild Nominations

I was really excited for these nominees to be announced, then they turned into complete chaos. There's still plenty of good, but plenty of WTF to go along with it.

Cast in a Motion Picture
“Belfast”
“CODA”
“Don’t Look Up”
“House of Gucci”
“King Richard”
While I'm very happy for CODA, and House of Gucci and Belfast were also locks, where the fuck is Dune? That should've been here. Film Twitter had me convinced Mass had a chance too and that's on my must see list. I'm not mad about King Richard, I think that's pretty awesome. Don't Look Up has a great cast...just not in that movie.

Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture
Javier Bardem, “Being the Ricardos”
Benedict Cumberbatch, “The Power of the Dog”
Andrew Garfield, “Tick Tick Boom”
Will Smith, “King Richard”
Denzel Washington, “The Tragedy of Macbeth”
Bardem snuck in over Peter Dinklage, who I thought we'd see here. I was hoping for Adam Driver in Annette as a no guts nomination, but I'll settle with House of Gucci. I just want Cumberbatch to actually win.

Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture
Jessica Chastain, “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”
Olivia Colman, “The Lost Daughter”
Lady Gaga, “House of Gucci”
Jennifer Hudson, “Respect”
Nicole Kidman, “Being the Ricardos”
Kristen Stewart getting snubbed for Spencer has to be the most shocking thing I have ever seen at the SAGs. Seriously, can you think of a bigger snub? She was supposed to be the front runner. Is this really Kidman's year? Hudson was great in Respect, but that movie was fucking terrible whereas Spencer was wonderful.

Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Ben Affleck, “The Tender Bar”
Bradley Cooper, “Licorice Pizza”
Troy Kotsur, “CODA”
Jared Leto, “House of Gucci”
Kodi Smit-McPhee, “The Power of the Dog”
Leto was funny as fuck in House of Gucci but I wouldn't be throwing awards at him. Cooper's nomination feels like a consolation prize because Best Actor is way too stacked to nominate him where he should be for Nightmare Alley.

Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Caitriona Balfe, “Belfast”
Cate Blanchett, “Nightmare Alley”
Ariana DeBose, “West Side Story”
Kirsten Dunst, “The Power of the Dog”
Ruth Negga, “Passing”
Cate getting in for Nightmare Alley is fun but not at the expense of Aunjanue Ellis.

Ensemble in a Drama Series

“The Handmaid’s Tale”
“The Morning Show”
“Squid Game”
“Succession”
“Yellowstone”
Every time I've glanced at the TV when my husband is watching Yellowstone, something awful is happening to someone. It seems like misery porn. I'm happy for Succession, Squid Game, and Handmaid's Tale. The Morning Show being in here for its second season is offensive. It was so bad.

Male Actor in a Drama Series
Brian Cox, “Succession”
Billy Crudup, “The Morning Show”
Kieran Culkin, “Succession”
Lee Jung-jae, “Squid Game”
Jeremy Strong, “Succession”
I love all the performances here, but I wish Matthew Macfayden was one of the nominees.

Female Actor in a Drama Series
Jennifer Aniston, “The Morning Show”
Jung Ho-yeon, “Squid Game”
Elisabeth Moss, “The Handmaid’s Tale”
Sarah Snook, “Succession”
Reese Witherspoon, “The Morning Show”
Aniston and Witherspoon are just taking up space here. Both of their arcs in S2 of The Morning Show were terrible. I'm glad they found room for Jung Ho-yeon, at least.

Ensemble in a Comedy Series
“The Great”
“Hacks”
“The Kominski Method”
“Only Murders in the Building”
“Ted Lasso”
I got rid of Hulu so I haven't caught up on S2 of The Great yet, but who am I kidding. I'm team Lasso here.

Male Actor in a Comedy Series
Michael Douglas, “The Kominski Method”
Brett Goldstein, “Ted Lasso”
Steve Martin, “Only Murders in the Building”
Martin Short, “Only Murders in the Building”
Jason Sudeikis, “Ted Lasso”
Martin and Short feel like they're only nominated because of their celebrity. I'm rooting for Sudeikis.

Female Actor in a Comedy Series
Elle Fanning, “The Great
Sandra Oh, “The Chair”
Jean Smart, “Hacks”
Juno Temple, “Ted Lasso”
Hannah Waddingham, “Ted Lasso”
Glad to see Juno back after she sat out the Globes.

Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series
Murray Bartlett, “The White Lotus”
Oscar Isaac, “Scenes from a Marriage”
Michael Keaton, “Dopesick”
Ewan McGregor, “Halston”
Evan Peters, “Mare of Easttown”
I LOVE that Murray Bartlett got in for The White Lotus. He was so good. I wish I would've seen Paul Bettany here for Wandavision, but I knew the SAGs weren't going to go for that.

Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series
Jennifer Coolidge, “The White Lotus”
Cynthia Erivo, “Genius: Aretha”
Margaret Qualley, “Maid”
Jean Smart, “Mare of Easttown”
Kate Winslet, “Mare of Easttown”
I don't think Jean Smart needed to be nominated here as well since she already has a nomination for Hacks and if we're sticking with Mare of Easttown, Julianne Nicholson was better. I weep for no Elizabeth Olsen who out acted everyone on TV this year in Wandavision.

Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture
“Black Widow”
“Dune”
“The Matrix Resurrections”
“No Time to Die”
“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings”

Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series
“Cobra Kai”
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”
“Loki”
“Mare of Easttown”
“Squid Game”

  1. No Dune makes me sad and honestly, fuck Jared Leto.

Reading from your Twitter scroll, I hope Evan's documentary about her time with that piece of shit reveals a lot as I know Trent Reznor had some things to say about Manson and that book Manson wrote a long time ago is filled with a bunch of bullshit.

I stopped watching Meekmahan-land TV nearly 8 years ago. I'm just glad there's AEW, Impact, New Japan, MLW, and GCW who at least appreciate legends. Lita deserves a lot more than some stupid guest appearance on a show that is barely watchable. At least it's now RAW.

    1. I think Lita would be awesome in AEW but she'll never be there if Matt Hardy is. He still comes off as a major drama queen about everything that happened even though she probably never even thinks about him anymore.

    2. Actually, the reason Lita didn't go to AEW (though it would've been cool) isn't because of Matt Hardy. It's because of Matt's wife Reby.

    3. Reby and Matt are a package deal. they enable eachother's bad behavior.

  2. Kristen Stewart being snubbed is downright unforgiveable. I HATE that Jared Leto is nominated for House of Gucci, last time I checked simply being funny wasn't award-worthy...and I didn't even find him that funny.
I've got everything crossed for some Ted Lasso wins! :)

    1. Oh I agree. I thought Leto was hilarious but he doesn't deserve an award for it. lol
