Best Shots of the Decade: 2014

This month, I wanted to start sharing "Decade" posts celebrating the 2010's. It's extra fitting that this year is the 10 anniversary of Rambling Film. I decided to split up each year, with 10 gifs from 10 different films. Here are some shots that stood out to me. Onward to 2014!

Previous Posts: 2010 2011 2012 2013

Snowpiercer

The Theory of Everything

Whiplash

God Help The Girl

Nightcrawler

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Camp X-Ray

Gone Girl

Begin Again

Song of the Sea

Bonus: How To Train Your Dragon 2
Not because it's an amazing cinematic shot, but because no one in that theater was laughing harder than I was when this happened. It's also my favorite of the series, and the first film I took my son to at the theater.

  1. Those shots in Gone Girl, Snowpiercer, and Camp X-Ray are awesome. 2014 was a great year in films. I think that was my favorite year of the decade.

    1. It was, there were so many wonderful films. Camp X-Ray I didn't see until much later and I wish I had gotten a chance to see it sooner because it was one of the best films of the decade.

    1. It could be a murder, it could be the world's most OTT time of the month. So many possibilities.

  7. Awesome picks! I love the different choices you made for Birdman and Gone Girl. So many lists pick Emma staring up at the sky or Rosamund glaring at the camera, but the way the camera encompasses Michael in the shop and Amy sitting in that pool of blood is really underrated. Snowpiercer is one of my favorites too.

    1. The pool of blood is hands down the best shot of Gone Girl by a wide margin for me. That shot of Emma in Birdman was great, but I loved those pepper lights. They were just so beautiful and that shot stood out to me the most.

    1. I do too. When I was searching for that scene I must have watched the clip of it about 10 times. I just adore this movie.
