Guilty Pleasure Review: White Chicks

Making my way down town. Walking fast, faces pass and I'm home bound.

I have a valid reason for even going to see this film in the first place: Because I was a stupid teenager. My friends decided that we were going to spend our day mixing Everclear and pink lemonade, going down the water slides at our hotel about 100 times, then capping our night off with going to this little gem at the movie theater. My thought process was "I'm going to get drunk, and therefore this movie will be funny." Well, turns out I think this movie is hilarious stone cold sober as well.

Brothers and FBI agents Kevin and Marcus Copeland (Shawn and Marlon Waynes) botch a job, and end up working undercover as private security for two rich Hilton sister knockoffs. Long story short, they refuse to leave their hotel room, so Kevin and Marcus are forced to dress up as them to continue their undercover operation.

I'm not even ashamed that I love this movie. (Ok, maybe a little) The entire thing is SO far fetched, but there are so many great lines. Jennifer Carpenter is a standout as one of the spoiler sister's friend with some severe body issues. It's just so stupid that you can't help but laugh. Whenever I hear "1000 Miles" my Vanessa Carlton, I think of this movie. The only unfortunate thing for me was that my friends constantly said "Oh my God, Brittanniiiii" for a long time after seeing this.

Bottom line, if you're looking for an amusing bad movie to watch, this is it. It's fucking hilarious.

  2. I used to really press my students to make connections to other works. But year after year, I almost lose my shit, when some kid starts their response with:

"Oh, yeah. Did you ever see White Chicks? 'Cuz there's this part..."

So, basically...I'm going to sit this one out. Forever. Only so I can't engage with them.

(but I definitely enjoyed the write up!)

  3. I fucking enjoy this film. It's hilarious. "Who's blocking my sun?..." "Easy there white chocolate, I don't want you to melt" "Ok Schwarzenegro".

Terry Crews stole the film for me and I just love every scene he's in.

  4. I really do laugh my ass off every time I see this flick. It's also the only flick that had me wet myself by how much I was laughing. Yeah, it was that intense. Good review Brittani. Glad you stuck up for this one.
